Operations and Warehouse Manager



Purpose:



The Operations and Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse while ensuring overall business efficiency. This role manages materials, people, and processes to keep projects on track, while also driving improvements in productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction. The position requires a strong understanding of plumbing and construction supply operations. The manager will be responsible for pulling and packing jobs, returning inventory, and supporting service questions. The Operations and Warehouse Manager provides leadership across warehouse, logistics, and operational functions to ensure smooth and effective workflows.

Overall Expectations:



Operations & Warehouse Management



Oversee daily warehouse and service operations, including receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory management. Lead and optimize operational workflows to reduce inefficiencies and improve productivity. Plan proactively, preparing weekly outlines while remaining flexible for urgent changes or last-minute requests. Monitor inventory levels, manage ordering and returns, and maintain accurate records in the system. Support procurement activities to ensure timely ordering and cost control. Collaborate with office staff and field teams to ensure materials and resources are ready for scheduled jobs. Oversee logistics, including fleet management and delivery scheduling, to ensure timely fulfillment. Manage health and safety compliance, acting as the Management Representative for the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Provide operational reporting to the executive team and flag issues affecting workflow, staff performance, or customer service.

Leadership & People Management



Supervise, mentor, and motivate warehouse and operations staff to foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture. Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring staff understand priorities and deadlines. Address performance issues, conflicts, and challenges professionally and fairly. Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training to build strong, capable teams.

Process Improvement & Efficiency



Implement and monitor KPIs to measure productivity, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. Ensure proper use and continuous improvement of warehouse management systems

Strategic & Administrative Support



Assist with forecasting, planning, and budgeting to support operational and warehouse needs. Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiency improvements. Provide guidance and problem-solving support across warehouse, office, and plumbing teams. Suggest updates to policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and safety. Assist with event planning and other operational initiatives as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:



Knowledge & Experience



5+ years of progressive experience in operations, logistics, or warehouse management--plumbing, construction supply, or industrial distribution experience strongly preferred. Proven leadership in supervising and motivating teams. Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, warehouse management systems. Experience with budgeting, resource allocation, and process improvement initiatives. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Demonstrated understanding of occupational health and safety regulations (OHSA). Hands-on plumbing knowledge required; must understand plumbing parts, materials, and basic installation/service processes to support job preparation, inventory management, and service inquiries.

Additional Education & Certifications



Post-secondary education in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field is an asset. Relevant certifications (e.g., Lean/5S, WHMIS, forklift safety, or logistics certifications) are considered an advantage.

Reporting Relationship



The Operations and Warehouse Manager reports directly to the Managing Partner / Executive Team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $82,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
