The Officer, Communications, Engagement and Knowledge Mobilization works closely with the supervisor to develop, manage and execute communication and marketing projects, strategies, programs and initiatives of the SFU Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue. The Officer works with the supervisor to lead, manage and develop branding and communication design for the SFU Centre for Dialogue, acts as the copywriting, copyediting and social media expert responsible for strategizing, managing and updating content for various marketing materials, as well as creating and implementing email and social media marketing initiatives as required. The position manages, writes and creates content for various SFU Centre for Dialogue and Semester in Dialogue websites and materials, and works closely with the University Communications team to ensure effective web and digital practices. The Officer supervises and trains temporary, co-op and contract staff to support communication and marketing initiatives of the SFU Centre for Dialogue and Semester in Dialogue. Qualifications: Bachelor\'s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field and five years of related experience in the design, strategy, planning and execution of marketing/communication plans, with experience working in dialogue and/or engagement or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of creative design software tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite etc.).
  • Excellent knowledge of print and electronic media, blogs, and social media tools including statistics reporting and tracking.
  • Excellent knowledge of web maintenance (e.g. AEM, Drupal, WordPress, HTML, CSS, SEO).
  • Good knowledge of performance measurement tools (e.g. digital analytics software) for various online communications and marketing purposes.
  • Good knowledge of dialogue and engagement.
  • Knowledge of good practices for inter-cultural engagement, including cultural literacy in the norms of multiple communities in Metro Vancouver and Canada.
  • Knowledge of creating culturally appropriate spaces and contexts (social and historical) for engagement between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
  • Knowledge of participatory engagement processes and working with groups traditionally under-served by government or facing barriers to participation.
  • Excellent copy writing and copy-editing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to rewrite news media and social media content into concise and accessible language for a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Proficient in the use of standard office applications, desktop publishing software, content management systems and survey tools (e.g. MS Office, SurveyMonkey).
