We are a busy scrap metal recycling facility dedicated to providing reliable, environmentally responsible recycling services. We are looking for a detail-oriented, professional, and organized Office Administrator / Receptionist to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations while providing excellent customer service to clients and visitors.
Responsibilities
Greet and assist customers, drivers, and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
Answer and direct incoming phone calls and emails.
Prepare and process invoices, purchase orders, and scale tickets.
Maintain accurate records of material received and shipped.
Handle cash and cheque transactions.
Assist with basic bookkeeping tasks.
Maintain and organize office files, records, and documentation.
Schedule and coordinate shipments, pick-ups, and deliveries.
Support management with administrative tasks as required.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
Qualifications
Previous experience as an office administrator, receptionist, or in a similar role (experience in recycling, logistics, or industrial environments is an asset).
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Basic knowledge of bookkeeping or accounting principles is an asset.
Reliable, professional, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Work Environment
Office setting within a scrap metal recycling yard.
Interaction with truck drivers, customers, and yard staff.
Fast-paced environment with occasional exposure to outdoor yard conditions.
