As ATB\'s next Occupational Health & Safety Disability Manager with People Places & Spaces, you\'re on a mission to support the health and safety of our team members by bringing to life a culture of safety and strong disability management across ATB.

Reporting to the Director, Occupational Health & Safety, the Disability Manager is responsible for overseeing all work-related injury incidents and claims. The Disability Manager is involved in consultations with compensation boards in the provinces that we work in, working with them to reduce ATB\'s overall lost time and returning team members back to pre-incident employment.

You will support all ATB team members from across Canada in managing work related injuries. Through your strong ability to build relationships and distill and translate complex problems you will work with team members, leaders and joint health and safety committees to build and foster a strong disability management culture at ATB. This

includes managing complex claims, completing injury and claim analytics, return to work plans, claim objections and supporting leaders and workers through the claims process.

PP&S is ATB\'s real estate and facilities business unit and leads: real estate strategy, workplace optimization & experience, spatial design, construction, project management, leasing & subleasing management, facilities management & maintenance, asset management, facility operations, occupational health & safety, and physical security. PP&S oversees ATB\'s 1.5 million square feet of space and the team is deeply connected to transforming banking through ATB\'s client facing locations, and leading the way with corporate workplace transformation, both of which bring ATB\'s mandate to life and power possibility for Albertans.

Disability Manager Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for all program management, including design, communications, change management, implementation and evaluation for Workers\' Compensation Disability Management programs and systems
  • Support leaders in their involvement, engagement and alignment with the Workers\' Compensation Disability Management program
  • Resolve questions and provide advice to team members and internal/external stakeholders regarding Disability Management programs, processes and policies
  • Evaluate processes and implement opportunities to enhance the Disability Management System
  • Develop and implement tracking and trending for all near misses, incidents, & Workers\' Compensation claims across the organization
  • Maintain and manage Disability Management performance statistics
  • Work collaboratively with Finance, Payroll, Legal, Risk and HR Departments to develop and implement a strong enterprise wide disability management culture
  • Engage, educate, and support leaders and workers with completing Workers\' Compensation reporting, offers of modified work, return to work plans
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure prompt and safe return to work for ATB workers
  • Assess claims for benefit entitlement by reviewing contractual, medical, functional and occupational information - Sources include, but are not limited to, Independent Medical Evaluations, Functional Capacity Evaluations, Ergonomic assessments, healthcare treatments, medical consultant opinions, Rehabilitation Consultant resources, and consulting Mental Health Experts
  • Complete near miss and incident investigations and follow ups, utilizing root cause investigation techniques
  • Create detailed business/data analysis documents, highlight problems and opportunities with your insights
  • Support special projects as assigned by the Director, OH&S

Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education from an accredited university or college with a degree or diploma in Administration, Environment or Safety
  • Knowledge of all Provincial Workers\' Compensation legislation, programs and processes, with exceptional knowledge of Alberta programs
  • 2-3 years of progressive Disability Claims Management experience in a large corporate environment
  • Knowledge and experience in Occupational Health & Safety fundamentals is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to create and implement effective solutions in terms of OH&S
  • Experience with the development of complex analytical or statistical programs and/or processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact effectively with Business Unit Management, Lines of Business, as well as external vendors
  • Self-directed, self-motivated & committed to continuous learning
  • Self-starter, keen eye for details and ability to identify gaps
  • The drive to achieve results independently in a semi virtual environment
