Specialisterne works with businesses in Canada and the US to hire neurodivergent employees. We connect qualified neurodivergent candidates to employment opportunities in numerous industries and sectors.

Audit Associate Full-Time Target Start Date: August 2023 Hybrid in Toronto 7 hours per day (8 during busy season)
Core Tasks:
  • Preparing audit working papers for specific areas such as cash, revenue, etc. using prior year files as a guide
  • Taking client information and support and reconcile back to their financial statements/trial balances
  • Verifying that the financial records are true and accurate and ensuring the data reconciles back to the information. The candidate\xe2\x80\x99s job would be to obtain transaction details for various areas, select samples, and obtain support from the client to verify and agree that it is correct (receipts, invoice all line up etc.)
  • Preparing and sending third- party confirmations for various areas in the file (i.e. cash, receivables, etc.) to confirm the accuracy of the client\xe2\x80\x99s records. Once the confirmations are obtained, the candidate\xe2\x80\x99s job would be to tie out the numbers to financial statements/trial balances. Organizing and preparing the client data for analysis

Digital and Technical Skills
  • Between Basic and Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Excel
  • Between Basic and Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Word
  • Experience navigating emails and scheduling calendars with Microsoft Outlook

  • Basic - I can do this in simple situations with close or extensive guidance
  • Between Basic and Intermediate
  • Intermediate - I can do this in most situations, with occasional guidance
  • Between Intermediate and Expert
  • Expert - I can do this in exceptionally difficult situations with no guidance and I can be a key resource for others.
Education/Knowledge
  • A degree or diploma in Accounting or Business Administration OR a degree or diploma and relevant work experience in an Accounting role
  • An interest in pursuing a career in accounting (Not for CPA Candidates)
    • Nice to have (but not required):
    • Knowledge or understanding of basic accounting principles including journal entries and debits and credits

  • Create a job-specific Candidate Profile: If you meet the qualifications of the role, our talent acquisition team will give you access to your Candidate Profile. You will use it to answer job specific questions and/or complete a work sample exercise to showcase your skills for this role. This is what employers will use instead of using your resume or interviewing you.
  • Meet with a Specialisterne facilitator. After you have completed your Candidate Profile, a Specialisterne facilitator will book a thirty minute meeting with you to discuss your application.
