As a Network Specialist in the Corporate IS Department, you\xe2\x80\x99ll play a key role in maintaining and shaping CBN\xe2\x80\x99s global network infrastructure. Working in a team of highly skilled network professionals, you\'ll play a part in driving forward our technology roadmap, automation capabilities, service delivery standards and operational processes for CBN\xe2\x80\x99s global network infrastructure and service delivery operations.

You\'ll work closely with our IT Security team to continually advance our network security capabilities and posture, ensuring we stay ahead of the curve in protecting CBN and our corporate information.

What will you do?

You\'ll be responsible for monitoring and administering CBN\xe2\x80\x99s global network infrastructure and play a significant part in designing and evolving it so as to ensure that it remains a highly secure, highly available, performance and capacity tuned fault tolerant infrastructure that underpins CBN\xe2\x80\x99s 24x7 security focused world-wide business operations .

Core responsibilities will include the following:

  • Manage and administer CBN\xe2\x80\x99s global network and voice infrastructure including all network firewalls, network switches, routers, IDS/IDP appliances, VPN appliances, WiFi access points, carrier data/voice links, PBX and physical cabling.
  • Manage and administer CBN\xe2\x80\x99s IP Address space & assignments, OSF/BGP routing, communication links (voice and data), firewall rules, IPSec/SSL Tunnels, VLANs, etc.
  • Monitor, assess and act upon security advisories and vulnerabilities to mitigate CBN exposure to risk.
  • Monitor and analyze network performance; making optimization recommendations as appropriate.
  • Diagnose, isolate and resolve all network related support requests and incidents that impact availability, security and/or performance in accordance to assessed severity, service level agreements and turnaround targets.
  • Research, identify and implement new solutions for network infrastructure projects. These may include firewall migration projects, network rezoning, new site fit-ups, new technology configuration and deployment, etc.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date system and network documentation and diagrams.
What will help you succeed:

Ideally, you will possess a degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field and 10+ years of progressive networking experience in nationally/globally distributed environments.

Some of the skill/knowledge sets that will be considered assets are:

Technical Skills
  • Firewall Management: Strong Firewall management experience is a key requirement for this role; preferably with Fortigate Firewalls (NSE4 or higher) within a large multi-site enterprise.
  • Network Communications: OSI Layers, Routing (OSPF, BGP), IP Addressing, Switching, VLAN, STP, Multicast/Unicast, VPN, WiFi, VPN;
  • Network Troubleshooting Skills & Tools: Advanced Network performance troubleshooting, Solarwinds Network Monitoring, Packet Capture Sniffing & Analysis, Splunk SIEM, Fluke Network Testers, VoIP call handshake knowledge, Enterprise Automation tooling (Fortimanager, Network Mapping, Use of API\xe2\x80\x99s in automation, etc.);
  • Network Security: Intrusion Detection Prevention technologies, IPSec/SSL, NAC, Radius/Tacacs, Packet Inspection, ITSG-22, ITSG-38, CISSP certification;
  • Wide Area Network: IPSec over Internet, MPLS links, SDWAN Technologies;
  • Telecommunications: Carrier Telecommunication Links (PSTN, 1FL, PRI, SIP), PBX (3CX), VoIP communication handshake capture and troubleshooting;
  • Architecture/Design: Background in architecting and designing networking solutions based on standards and best practices.
Relevant Experience/Soft Skills
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills;
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve issues effectively;
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Ability to earn NSE4 certification within 6 months of starting the position.
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation program (approx. 1 week on, 2/or 3 weeks off - dependent on various factors, e.g travel, vacation, etc);
  • Ability to travel expediently to and between all local (National Capital Region) CBN sites regularly, as well as on very short notice;
  • Ability to travel internationally to CBN\xe2\x80\x99s foreign sites 2-4 times/year (e.g. USA, Romania, Honduras, etc.);
  • Eligibility for Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance.
