HOURS OF WORK: Day, November 1, 2022 to March 1, 2024; Subject to change due to operational requirements

SALARY: $43.4808 to $55.2115 per hour (Subject to Employment Status may be paid at 13% benefit premium as per SHCP collective agreement article 57.02(a))

JOB PURPOSE:

The Regional Pharmacy Parenteral Services Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership for the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of parenteral services and programs across Horizon Health Network, including centralized IV additive services, sterile compounding, parenteral nutrition and parenteral chemotherapy. The Regional Pharmacy Parenteral Services Coordinator is also responsible for collaborating with Regional stakeholders for safe and effective management of parenteral medications. In carrying out this role, the Regional Pharmacy Parenteral Services Coordinator is required to work at various sites throughout Horizon.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
  • Registered or eligible for licensure with the New Brunswick Pharmaceutical Society and licensed to practice in New Brunswick.
  • Completion of an advanced clinical pharmacy practice program or degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
  • Ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Good work record.
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Acts as the regional pharmacy resource for all parenteral issues including centralized IV additive services, home IV therapy, sterile compounding, parenteral nutrition and parenteral chemotherapy. Works with the Pharmacy management team to:
  • develop, implement, and evaluate plans to rationalize, integrate, and standardize parenteral services and programs across Horizon
  • develop and evaluate orientation, training, and evaluation programs for the staff involved in parenteral services and programs.
  • develop, implement, and review standards, policies and procedures for parenteral services and programs.
  • develop a quality assurance program for pharmacy parenteral services
  • Collaborates with Regional stakeholders to:
  • coordinate the preparation, editing and distribution of drug monographs in the Parenteral Drug Therapy manual.
  • participate in policy development and applications for safe and effective use of parenteral drug therapy delivery technologies
  • coordinate the maintenance of stability and reconstitution charts.
  • support the work and objectives of the Provincial Parenteral Drug Therapy Committee
  • develop, manage and maintain an ongoing quality assurance process for services and programs across Horizon in accordance with accepted standards (e.g. Accreditation Canada, CSHP, CAPhO, etc.)
  • Acts as a preceptor
  • Provide mentoring, training and education
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
