The Navigator works to assist residents of the Dorm Program, ages 12-24, or youth accessing the Emergency Overnight Shelter who may be potential candidates for the Dorm Program. Supervision of youth across 8-10hr shifts (days, evenings, nights)
Support youth to be involved in the development of a service plan with attainable goals and a transition plan to independent living
Connect youth to resources in the community not limited to education, employment, housing, life skills, addictions, and mental health
Maintain a shared caseload of 10 youth with other Navigators
Daily interaction with youth in residence
Maintain regular contact with support services (guardian, YHSSA, Justice, School, Employers), and other professionals and support services that may become involved with the youth
Engage youth to participate in cultural, educational, mental health & addictions, personal coaching, recreational and social programming provided by specialized HBYK staff
Ensure HBYK is a safe space for all, including 2SLGBTQQIPAA+ persons
Risk, Conflict and Crisis Management

Degree or Diploma, including but not limited to: Youth Work, Social Work, Criminology, Education, Recreation
Minimum of 2 years experience working in a similar role/environment.
Relevant lived experience will be assessed on a case by case basis
TRANSFERABLE SKILLS
Punctual and reliable (_required_)
Understanding of youth experiencing addictions, discrimination, homelessness, mental health problems, trauma, and neurodivergent behaviours
Emotional intelligence including self-awareness, self-regulation, intrinsic motivation empathy, social skills
Communication skills including written, verbal, presentation, active listening, non-verbal, feedback, respect, confidence, clarity, honesty, friendly
Fluent in the use of Google Suite programming
Experience writing case notes
Collaborate well with others
