Job Summary The Employment Navigator provides employment planning and support to individuals who identify with having a disability or barrier to employment. They also provide services and supports to employers regarding inclusive staffing practices. The successful applicant will work within an employment team that takes a strengths-based approach, supports each other, collaborates well, encourages creativity and innovation, and often has a bunch of fun together! Job Duties
  • Communicate with individuals, service providers, and agencies to promote and explain the available services and supports
  • Collaborate with clients to develop individualized personal profiles, service plans, continuous goal-setting, job development/carving and progress reports
  • Develop a client training plan with expected timelines, milestones and fading schedule and review it with the client and employer prior to start date
  • Review training plan with client and identify any specific issues that may need supports
  • Create a baseline assessment on the job by listing the tasks from the job description and observing while the client works through tasks
  • Provide supports to the client at the point where the client cannot do the task(s) independently; this becomes the starting point for training
  • Develop an appropriate task analysis based on the starting point for training, for each task in the job description
  • Develop individualized job coaching plans with goals, milestones, and expected outcomes, to assist client with progression towards independent employment
  • Write and submit client progress reports to funding partners and referral sources
  • Conduct community engagement research to gather information and feedback about employment services and supports that are needed in their sector
  • Meet with community service providers to inform, collaborate, and gather information that relates to providing cooperative supports for clients
  • Provide employer support, including; education/awareness, advocacy, consultation, and other services that ultimately work to strengthen the Yukon\xe2\x80\x99s labour market
  • Meet with employers to develop outcome-based job description and job analysis, identifying possible hazards, natural supports, and cultural norms within the workplace
  • Contribute to organizational and departmental performance measurement planning
  • Attend meetings and training courses as required
  • Protect the health and safety of others by adopting safe work practices and reporting unsafe conditions immediately, first to the employer
  • Perform responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable federal, provincial, and municipal legislation
  • Assist with care and maintenance of the organization; including building, property, and vehicles
Job Requirements
  • Experience working with individuals who have unique support needs
  • Case Management experience
  • Coaching and/or supervisory experience
  • Certifications or licenses appropriate to the position
  • RCMP Vulnerable Sector check
  • Current Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License
  • Strong proficiency in digital skills and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to deal pleasantly and effectively with a wide range of people of different ages and cultures, sometimes in emotionally charged situations
  • Ability to maintain positive professional boundaries without imposing personal judgments or values on clients
  • Ability to make decisions in complex situations that could be immediately dangerous to life or health
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in diverse environments
  • High level of integrity, work ethic, and the ability to handle sensitive or private information with discretion
  • Valid First Aid and CPR/AED Class C certification
  • Specific trainings such as Mental Health First Aid, Risking Connections, ASIST, Non Violent Crisis Intervention, and First Nations 101 are considered assets
