The Township of Pickle Lake is seeking a skilled and highly collaborative candidate who thrives in a culture of change to assume the role of Municipal Clerk. We require a result-oriented professional who is committed to the Township\xe2\x80\x99s values, including overseeing the delivery of services in a manner that is sustaining, compliant, and ensures that the needs of the Township\xe2\x80\x99s Community Members, Staff, Departments, and Council are achieved. The Clerk will performs the related statutory duties of the position facilitating the administration of the Township\'s corporate affairs. The candidate will provide leadership to ensure that policies and programs of the Township are implemented and reported to the Members of Council. The Clerk is responsible for carrying out a broad range of legislative responsibilities, such; Responsibilities:

  • Performs the duties of the municipal clerk as broadly stipulated by Municipal Act and various other municipal-related legislation including organizing and maintaining all records of Council and official documents.
  • Administrates and oversees municipal finances; recommending long-term strategies for the financial management of the municipality. Provides monetary and budgetary advice to Council; in conjunction with the senior management team,
  • Conducts the necessary research on municipal and provincial policies/practices/regulations. Prepares reports and provides support materials to aid council in making informed decisions.
  • Prepares and implements annual business plans and oversees other functions of the office such as managing the Municipality\'s human resources functions
  • Administers all council meetings and acts as liaison with all Levels of Government, as well as, stakeholders
Overall, the Clerk is responsible for all departments function including Clinic, Municipal Office, Public/Waterworks, Fire Department and Facilities with the assistance of department managers. Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Post secondary education (Diploma/Degree) in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Skills
  • 1-2 years managerial experience required,
  • Experience conducting municipal elections,
  • An understanding of municipal taxation and assessment legislation,
  • Municipal finance and capital/operating budget experience,
  • Familiarity with Economic Development procedures, principles and funding sources,
  • Highly proficient computer skills including municipal related software,
  • Capital Asset Management accounting experience an asset,
  • Payroll administration and general ledger analysis experience an asset,
  • Recognized Certification/Accreditation in senior municipal administration, such as from AMCTO, will be preferred,
  • Strong communication skills, both spoken and written, combined with superior organizational/analytical skills.
