SALARY: $36,000 to $54,964 per year (Pay Band 1) (Based on 37.5 hours per week)

JOB PURPOSE:

Position Overview:

The Medical Education Administrator is part of the team designed to foster the ongoing relationship between Moncton Medical Education, New Brunswick Medical Education, Horizon Health Network (HHN) and Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador (MUN), and will play a major role in the day-to-day administration of a successful medical education program. This person will manage and coordinate student placements, provide programmatic support to the MUN Site Director and serves as a resource to learners. The Medical Education Administrator is integral to the delivery of the MUN program; they must maintain a thorough knowledge of site, departmental, facility, faculty, university and national associations\xe2\x80\x99 policies and procedures ensuring that accreditation requirements are met. This Person will work collaboratively with all medical education staff and learners to ensure success of all undergraduate and postgraduate programs. This may involve cross coverage with other administrative staff.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to the HHN Regional Manager, Medical Education New Brunswick. The person is responsible to:

  • MUN Assistant Dean, NB
  • MUN Site Director, Moncton
  • Local and Regional Medical Education Leadership
Primary Responsibilities:

The MUN Medical Education Administrator is the primary resource for learners, faculty, and staff and is responsible for administering and coordinating phases of pre-clerkship/clerkship at the site. Responsibilities of the Medical Education Administrator include, but are not limited to:
  • Receive, review, and circulate MUN communications to MUN Site Director, Medical Education Office and others as required
  • Collaborate with Medical Education Office colleagues and respective departments to schedule training for learners
  • Ensure department orientation materials and packages are reviewed, updated and available to the learners
  • Develop reports as requested, on student, faculty and departmental participation in the MUN program at the site
  • Monitor learner\xe2\x80\x99s clinical encounters as required for program delivery and program evaluation purposes
  • Function as the first-contact liaison to students, faculty, and MUN administration for any issues or questions relating to the MUN programming
  • Provide support to the MUN Site Director in matters related to the MUN program in the site
  • Understand thoroughly the curricular goals, policies, and standards of MUN program
  • Recognize the responsibilities of other interacting departments (i.e., MUN Student Affairs, HHN Medical Education)
  • Know and communicate the MUN medical school calendar to all stakeholders
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and support the local committees and interest groups
  • Prepare and distribute materials to faculty and learners
  • Participate in or conduct learner orientation
  • Administer NBME or other required examinations
  • Plan and attend faculty development sessions, and other meetings and functions
  • Schedule and coordinate local meetings and conference calls
  • Collaborate with local medical education site staff to ensure seamless support to learners and faculty

The MUN Medical Education Administrator must demonstrate the following skills:

  • Basic understanding of medical and adult education
  • Works equally well independently or in collaboration with others
Qualifications:

Experience (1-3 years) in academic program activities in a university environment; graduation from high school supplemented by university courses in business administration or a related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and One45 is required.
