McMan is hiring a 0.8 FTE Mentor (32 Hours/Week) for our Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) based in Pincher Creek.

About the position:
Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, the PCAP Mentor will be responsible for advocacy, crisis intervention, goal planning, assisting with legal matters, addiction support, transportation and support in the initial stages of classes and meetings, improving quality of home environment, encouraging healthy mother/child relationships, promoting healthy living and nutrition, home management and parenting skills, teaching life skills, family planning, sexual health and connecting service participants to other agencies and supports. Monitor service participant's physical and mental health needs and refer them to appropriate supports. The Mentor will also be responsible for ensuring strong community connections with the Piikani Nation, attending community interagency meetings, community meetings and community events as appropriate for PCAP programming. The PCAP Mentor may also attend community ceremonies such as Powwows, Healing Circles, and other ceremonies as per invitation.
Key Responsibilities
:
Work to provide a variety of services designed to support Indigenous woman with community connections; rurally, on reserve and in Lethbridge/Calgary.
Intensive case management and service delivery under the PCAP Alberta support model and using participant-centered, harm reduction and strength-based approaches.
Supporting individuals who can become pregnant with planned parenthood or gaining access to birth control and other health needs.
Maintain all file documentation, accurate data collection and case notes.
Complete participant customized case plans based upon available community resources.
Provide crisis support and referrals for participants as required.
Work with multidisciplinary team partners including community and cultural resources, among others.
Be flexible and able to travel to respond to program needs.
Schedule is 8:30 to 4:30 Tuesday through Friday, however flexibility is frequently required to meet the needs of participants.

Hourly rate: $23.17 - 27.13 per hour, based on education and experience.

Requirements & Qualifications:
Degree/Diploma in Human Services and a member of good standing with applicable professional association. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Prior training and experience working with individuals impacted by FASD.
Preferred prior training and experience working within the PCAP Alberta Model.
Two years of experience in the human services field.
Capable of driving up to eight hours in a day to support participants with getting to appointments outside of their rural community.
Microsoft Office abilities (SharePoint, One Drive, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Current Standard First Aid CPR Level C Certificate or CSA Standard Z1210-17 Intermediate First Aid Certificate
Clear Child Intervention Record Check, dated within the past six months
Clear Police Information Check with vulnerable sector, dated within past six months.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License with at least 3 years' driving experience in Canada
, 3-year non-commercial Driver's Abstract, and use of reliable vehicle with $2M Third Party Liability insurance.
