The Opportunity The CKC Membership and Growth Coordinator, reporting directly to the CKC Finance Manager, will work collaboratively with the CKC Management Team to grow the health, fitness, and wellness opportunities offered at five municipally operated facilities through strategic sales initiatives, event attractions, sports tourism, travel tourism, and membership attraction. These facilities include Design Works Centre, Eastlink Centre, Hansen Lincoln Field, Dave Barr Community Centre, and Aquatera Outdoor Pool. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide growth and sustainability opportunities that support current tenants, user groups, partners, and members. Their work will lead to a thriving hub of recreation and sport that contributes to the overall health and wellness of the community and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
Membership and Business Growth:
  • Introduce, coordinate, and maintain initiatives and programs that support membership attraction.
  • Implement sales growth and sustainability through quality service, adherence to brand integrity, and strategic innovation while working in a fast-paced, public-sector recreation, health, fitness, and wellness environment.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders at CKC for business development and sustainability initiatives that may include event attraction, business growth or expansion, and community economic growth.
  • Explore and develop opportunities for business attraction, initiatives, and projects including but not limited to print material and advertisements in tourism and sport, representing CKC at local and regional tradeshows, conferences, and wellness expos onsite or on location with corporate partners.
  • Work with the CKC Management to create and implement strategies to incentivize growth and investment at CKC.
  • Advise CKC Management on any issues or barriers impacting business growth.
  • Advise CKC Management on campus growth opportunities in travel tourism, sports tourism, events attraction, and memberships.
  • Create a collaborative working relationship with the City Economic Development department to market the CKC as a sport and travel destination and event host location for regional, provincial, and western opportunities.

Membership Retention and Business Sustainability:
  • Explore CKC candidacy for awards, recognition, and designations for events, programs, employees, travel, sports tourism, etc.
  • Support Corporate Communications and Marketing with content generation for membership, user group, and tenant recognition through good stories for the social media content calendar.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of the bi-annual CKC Customer Satisfaction survey in collaboration with Corporate Communications and Marketing.
  • Generate reports and follow-up from the bi-annual Customer satisfaction survey to reach CKC Business Plan KPI goals.
  • Research sales and membership trends of similar facilities and recreation and wellness trends to identify gaps, opportunities for improvement, and investment in business and membership retention.
  • As the main point of contact for the Corporate Sponsorship Coordinator, collaborate and support corporate sponsorship opportunities that leverage sponsorship investments.

You Bring
  • Degree or diploma in public relations, marketing, business administration or management, recreation management, sport and recreation entrepreneurship, sales certifications, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge and experience in a municipal government framework with a proven ability to use diplomacy and tact while working with and advising senior leadership and corporate management teams would be considered a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to create and implement successful sales initiatives in a Business to Business and Business to Customer environment. Ability to analyze and report on data findings relevant to key performance indicators and return on investment.
  • Sales experience with a focus on growth through quality service, adherence to brand integrity, strong analytical capabilities, risk management experience, strategic innovation, and leadership experience with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced public sector environment.
  • Experience specific to community recreation in the health, fitness, and wellness industry is an asset.
  • Must have experience and genuine enjoyment working in the public sector. Demonstrated ability to appreciate diverse groups of people with diverse economic backgrounds.
  • Effective organization and planning skills with excellent customer service, time management, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to be creative and a natural desire for solution-seeking while balancing organization expectations, policies, and procedures. Ability to set priorities, delegate effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Public relations, communications, business administration, and public sector experience preferred with demonstrated experience with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Advanced skill with Microsoft Office Suite for the day-to-day delivery of work, and development of reports in a variety of systems.
  • Experience utilizing a Recreation Management System is a strong asset.

Hours
35 hours per week
Compensation Starting at $34.71 per hour (Band D, Entry Step) Annual Salary starting at $63,172.20
