Ophthalmologist seeking medical office administrator and ophthalmology assistant/technician. Candidate needs to be eager to learn all aspects of eye care, and will join a small dynamic team to provide tertiary and quaternary glaucoma medical and surgical care to patients in a hospital setting.
Position Responsibilities:
Administrative responsibilities: manage all aspects of referral intake and appointment/testing booking following established guidelines in Epic EMR. Checks-in and enters patient identifiers into Epic EMR. Checks-out patient from visit booking follow-up as needed including any patient instructions. Interacts with patients in person, on the phone, and via email. Takes payments as required.
Performs patient reception and preparation responsibilities: Greet patients respectfully, pleasantly, professionally and be able to convey concern, and sympathy at all times. Maintains awareness of patients/visitors in reception areas and monitors waiting time to ensure patients/visitors experience prompt care. Directs patient to diagnostic area, examination room, or appropriate areas.
Potential expansion to performing surgical booking and counselling responsibilities and technician services including history clinical taking, measuring vision, auto-refraction, and biometry. If there is interest, research and innovation opportunities are available.
Hours are variable day to day subject to schedule, patient load, and working with the rest of the team to ensure proper coverage at all times. Temporary position to start, but depending on circumstances, can become permanent.
Position Required Work Experience +/- Education
Required: High School Diploma.
Preferred: Post-Secondary Education (Certificate +/- Degree). Research Experience. Background with Medical Terminology. Medical Office Administration +/- Ophthalmic Assistant training or international medical/optometric/optician Training.

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
