Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Companies of Johnson & Johnson, is recruiting for a full-time permanent Medical Information Associate who will lead the portfolio for schizophrenia products for Medical Information. Located at the Head Office in Toronto, this position is hybrid in nature, where the successful candidate will have the flexibility to work from home a couple of days per week.

The Medical Information Associate (MIA) is a customer-oriented product and therapeutic area expert who is strategically minded and provides high-level clinical dialogue and support to healthcare providers (HCPs). The MIA provides scientific insights and actively contributes to the development of inter-and intra-departmental initiatives and business strategies. The MIA analyzes data and trends, participates in process improvement initiatives, and provides innovative solutions to optimize medical information delivery to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide Scientific, Product/Therapeutic Area, and Disease State Subject Matter Expertise to Internal and External Customers:

  • Develop, maintain and deliver verbal and/or written communication of researched medical/scientific information to HCPs and consumers in response to unsolicited requests
  • Handle all MI-related activities for a cross-therapeutic portfolio of promoted and non-promoted products
  • Craft and inform business strategy through:
  • Active participation in cross-departmental brand strategy development and marketplace issue management
  • Analysis of MI data, and sharing of customer, scientific and competitive insights
  • Interpretation and contextualization of relevant literature
  • Interpret, analyze and disseminate data to internal business partners (e.g. Sales & Marketing, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs) to support business strategy and product life-cycle management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners on the development, review, approval, and implementation of promotional material, scientific presentations, corporate communications, and patient education projects
  • Deliver training to business partners on therapeutic area and product knowledge
  • Identify and report adverse events and product complaints for Janssen marketed products
  • Provide scientific booth support at meetings and conferences
Departmental Shaping and Process Excellence:
  • Actively contribute to/lead departmental, local, and/or global MI projects aimed to optimize results to external and internal customers
  • Provide timely and accurate data input into applicable MI systems to ensure data integrity
  • Actively participate in appropriate knowledge exchange and sharing of key Medical Information processes, lessons learned and process efficiencies
Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or another healthcare profession, or a Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences required; advanced graduate degree a strong asset (MSc, MD, PhD, PharmD)

Relevant Knowledge and Experience:
  • Medical Information experience in the pharmaceutical industry, regional or hospital drug information centre, or in a healthcare setting is an asset
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the healthcare industry is preferred
  • A strong clinical and/or scientific background in one or more of the following therapy areas is an asset: schizophrenia, mental health, central nervous system
  • Familiarity with regulatory and healthcare compliance guidelines/policies is preferred
  • Experience leading inventive digital strategies and/or tactics in the medical setting is an intriguing background and a strength which may help differentiate between candidates
Technical competency requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to verbally communicate scientific information to HCPs and patients
  • Demonstrated ability to research, interpret and translate complex scientific information into professional communications to healthcare professionals and business partners
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to search and navigate through a wide range of online and in-print research resources
  • Strong prioritization skills with proven ability to proactively identify, probe, and respond with a sense of urgency
  • Outstanding attention to accuracy and detail
  • Advanced communication (verbal, written), presentation and project management skills
  • Demonstrated proficiencies for creativity, problem-solving, and innovative solutions
  • Consistent track record to work independently and in cross-functional team settings
  • Working knowledge of relevant software programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe, CRM tools etc.)
  • Working knowledge of common digital/virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams, etc.)
Other:
  • Bilingual language proficiency is a strong asset
  • Travel percentage - approximately 5% local, national or international
  • MIA also provides after hours support for emergency calls - a shared responsibility by the Team
