Job Description


Engineer Overview The Design and Development Engineer identifies and develops new designs and/or improve the characteristics of existing products to meet and exceed customer specifications, industry and federal/provincial regulations. The ideal candidate will be able to perform within a fast paced, custom fabrication environment, reporting to the Engineering Supervisor. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review of Sales Orders to ensure that all Design specifications are as required.
  • Read and interpret blue prints, technical drawings, schematics and computer generated reports.
  • Design and modification of designs of various equipment and components which will be fabricated
  • Maintain technical accuracy of customer requirements and specific design details.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Provides engineering information by answering both internal and external requests.
  • Ensure that product designs, drawings, CAD files, Bill of Materials, etc. are maintained to the latest requirements and specifications.
  • Create and maintain CAD files and drawing packages; make all changes, additions and/or deletions required to keep files up to date.
  • Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM\xe2\x80\x99s) including Production Routings (cut sheets)
  • Work with and support the Manufacturing & Production teams to investigate deviations from standard production and recommend corrective actions as required.
  • Complete all work safely, accurately and on time.
  • Maintains work area in clean, neat and orderly condition.
  • Perform additional duties as required
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Strong 3D modeling and computer skills.
  • Product design, development and continuous improvement knowledge.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Motivated team member who works well with others.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Project management and dealing with complexity
  • Ability presenting technical information
  • Able to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills
Education/Experience:
  • P.Eng.
  • Mechanical Engineer with minimum of 2-5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience, preferably with-in a manufacturing environment.
  • Skilled user of Solidworks CAD Software (Standard/Professional & Premium versions), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), SigmaNest CNC software. Previous knowledge with ERP/MRP software packages a plus.
