Job Description

Reporting directly to the Manager, Marketing Communications, the Marketing Communications Intern is responsible for providing support related to the creation and implementation of a fully integrated marketing communications plan for the Continuing Education and Professional Development portfolio at NOSM University. Activities include building social media channels and campaigns, preparing promotional material, market research and analysis, and website and digital marketing. The incumbent plays a critical role with CEPD as they expand on programming, micro-credentials, and connects back to the strategic priorities of NOSM University and the Marketing Communications team. This position will work daily with the Manager, CEPD in order to tailor the work specifically to the needs of the growing CEPD portfolio.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


Works with the Marketing Communications team on the planning and execution of integrated plans that meet the strategic priorities for NOSM University's CEPD portfolio. Conducts research and analysis of information gathered from environmental scanning, paying particular attention to emerging issues. Assists in marketing communications activities (e.g. social media, advertising, promotions and events.) Writes, proofreads and edits communication materials. Responsible for ensuring the successful and timely execution of deliverables for assigned projects, end-to-end project coordination, expertise, and contributing communication best practices. Builds and maintains positive relationships with stakeholder groups and liaises with key internal units with timely guidance on appropriate messages, channels, timing and distribution of information. Identifies and monitors new trends to ensure communication vehicles deliver information that is inclusive, consistent, innovative, and effective to specific audiences. Drafts, edits, proofreads and publishes various communications to NOSM University's target CEPD audiences identifying and incorporating success metrics (includes media releases, ad copy, web content, newsletters, articles, etc.) Ensures compliance with NOSM University's Editorial Style Guide and Brand Guide by providing guidance for the use of the NOSM University logo, branding, and corporate messages. Ensure accessibility and usability standards and best practices are adhered to in all communication. Advise and recommend solutions for accessibility standards. Acts as a role-model of the organization's values in daily work activities. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education




A University degree from a recognized university that meets Canadian accreditation standards in related field (e.g. communications, journalism, etc.) is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities




Knowledge of accessibility standards (AODA) would be considered an asset. Knowledge of WordPress would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Canva would be considered an asset. Ability to work independently and as a team player in meeting conflicting deadlines. Exceptional English-language written communication skills to write, proofread and edit a variety of materials. Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities within fast-changing environment. Strong project coordination skills. Knowledge of digital and social media. Knowledge of event management processes. Verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate and interact with various stakeholders. Research skills to gather and analyze data, compile information and draft reports. Ability to work in a consultative and collaborative fashion with a variety of other units to further overall University strategic objectives. Organize work and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and direct and control workflow to meet deadlines. Knowledge and proficiency in use of Microsoft and Google word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email.

Language




Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally, written and comprehension). French/Indigenous language skills would be considered asset.


Candidate Criteria




University and college graduates who have graduated within the last three years from an accredited college or university. Candidates must be graduates of post-secondary degree or diploma programs. Candidates must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field. Candidates must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older. Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Once hired, the candidate must be willing to relocate to Sudbury, Ontario.
