SUMMARY:



Responsible for efficiently fitting, tacking, welding, rolling, forming, and assembling metal components in accordance with Welding Tier 4.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



1. Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures. Must be able to interpret all TIGG production drawings including weld symbols and joint configurations.

2. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.

3. Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements).

4. Run all fabrication equipment to build a vessel from the roll (roller, fitting, submerge arc, hydro) through final fabrication for assembly.

5. Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.

6. Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.

7. Work as a cross functional team member by checking layout and welding work of other team members to ensure accuracy.

8. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical or horizontal).

9. Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.

10. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.

11. Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.

12. Proper use of forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling devices as required.

13. Other duties as assigned.



OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Immediately notify supervisor of malfunctioning or inoperable equipment. Participates in meetings as required. Individuals will exhibit positive and professional attitude in their work and will have a strong commitment to a safe and clean work area. Be able to consistently meet the quality and fabrication times of our vessels, piping and other components. Operate with little to no supervision and be able to move through multiple tasks on without being directed on what to do next. Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety to others in accordance with Newterra's safety policies and procedures. This includes reporting all safety concerns, near-misses, and incidents. Adhere to the company processes as detailed in Newterra's online systems Responsible for completing all assigned training applicable to position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



High School Diploma or GED required. ASW welding certificate preferred. ASME and radiograph for vessel certification required. Minimum 3 years of experience as a welder preferably in a manufacturing or water utilities environment. Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program is required. Must have strong working knowledge pertaining to the equipment used and the build of ASME code vessels. i.e., weld sizes fit up sign offs, orientations weld records, hydro testing, air testing. Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, FCAW, SAW, SMAW, MMA, etc.). Must pass internal testing as conducted by Welding Supervisor and Quality Control Manager. More than 2 years of ASME experience and proven ability to follow ASME Code procedures. Consistently pass radiograph tests as required. Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines. Working knowledge in the fabrication of non-code components within the build parameters to produce quality welds from both a cosmetic and structural standpoint. Experience building vessels from head fabrication, fitting fabrication, head to shell and shell to shell fabrication, piping and other components. Must exhibit positive and professional attitude in work and have a strong commitment to safety. Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.). Demonstrated ability to act with a high level of commitment to quality as it pertains to product and customer satisfaction.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



Strong communication skills required. Ability to actively listen and follow direction and instructions. Strong eye for detail. Ability to work independently in a deadline driven environment without or with minimal direction. Ability to stand on feet for long hours. Ability to adhere to strict safety standards and procedures. Must pass training certification annually (radiographs for vessels.) Knowledge of relative welding safety standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



Able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolds at varying heights. Uses repeated motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must be able to wear protective equipment (face-shields, gloves, etc.) Utilization of controls, operation of equipment. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull. The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust controls of equipment to maneuver or position. May lift product weighing up to 50 pounds.



WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a manufacturing environment and will be exposed to elements such as loud noise, hazardous equipment, heat, dirt, dust, fumes, and other materials. Exposure to hot or cold temperatures or inclement weather based on indoor or outdoor conditions. Company safety standards must be always followed.
