Responsibilities:

The Manufacturing Quality Manager (MQM) manages and leads the QA team across multiple bakeries. (Sudbury, Kitchener, 3 in the GTA). Leads the Quality and Food Safety initiatives to ensure the Bakery QA and Operations Teams, in all locations, are set up for success in their performance to be compliance to the Wonderbrands Quality and Food Safety Management Systems. Working with all levels of management in the Western Region to provide expertise, recommendations and leadership, as it pertains to Quality and Food Safety Activities.

Supporting and coaching Bakeries in improving their Quality and Food Safety compliance and performance to:

  • Contribute to the culture of quality, walk the talk, boots on the ground, to demonstrate a positive quality culture mindset, during daily activities through the regional and whole organization.
  • Supports change management by acting as a change agent leading the communication and engagement of Bakery Quality Managers and ISC counterparts
  • Support Bakeries in the deployment and execution of the Quality Management System and be audit ready.
  • Drive continual improvement of Quality Management System programs and policies through team engagement. Identify and share best practices throughout the network.
  • Capable of engaging and engaging people to drive ownership, pride and passion in the workplace.
  • Support bakery self-assessment internal audit program deployment and training in keeping with the FSQ Roadmap initiative.
  • Develop a partnership with the bakery leadership teams to drive operational excellence and expectations at the bakery level.
  • Develop Bakery Quality teams capabilities as subject matter experts for their products and processes.
  • Leverages experience, Bakery Quality Managers, quality networks and external benchmarks to continuously improve.
  • Weekly onsite support of the bakeries to deliver on the above.
  • Support bakeries in deliver on Right First Time and product compliance to specifications.
  • Supports identification and delivery of training and capability building of site teams.
  • Drive KPI's by engaging, enabling, and supporting Bakery Quality Managers to identify and deliver improvement action plans in bakeries. Identifies KPI trends and supports investigations and CAPA within the bakery and WF.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to bakeries in case of Food-Safety & Quality non-conformities (including risk analysis, problem-solving, actions plan, derogation, concession, contingency plan, and crisis management) to enhance the robustness of our FS/Q processes
  • Support bakery FS/Q critical incidents and risk assessments to validate the investigation results, disposition recommendations, and engage in further escalation communications, as needed.
  • Support third party audits, on site in the bakeries, including verifications, and corrective actions.
Main contact for internal and external audits and regulatory agency inspections. * Other responsibilities as assigned or re-assessed.

Requirements:
  • Strong interpersonal, influence and leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with the bakery leadership and operations colleagues.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
Overall strong communication skills within peer group, and with internal stakeholders.

Capable to prioritize multiple competing tasks and work with tight deadlines. * Skill to document findings and data clearly, concisely, and accurately

  • Is action drive, high energy and understands how to work in a fast paced work environment (make and ship).
  • Able to work flexible hours and shifts (afternoon/nights) including weekends
  • Travel to bakeries weekly across the region. (approximately 60% remote travel).
Education:
  • Knowledge of GFSI (preferably BRC), food safety (HACCP) programs, Preventive Controls, and Quality Systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Microbiology or a similar discipline with equivalent experience.
  • 7-10 years QA experience in a food plant, corporate food safety/quality experience a plus
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, data analytics, SAP, Visio, minitab.
