About the role:

In this role,you willget a chance tobe a lead player guiding a group ofControl and Mechanical Engineers to implement safety, ergonomics, throughput, quality and cost improvements in the General Assembly (GA) area of the truck plant. This role is well suited to someone who has natural leadership proficiency, experience solving people and equipment problems.Equipment used in General Assembly include dispensing,fastening, Operator tooling, robotics and conveyanceequipment.As GA ME lead, you will collaborate frequently with Production, Quality and Maintenance Associates.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a proactive safety culture by engaging team members and peers in our safety processes.
  • Lead the GA ME team to excel in their performance.
  • Interviewing new staff members
  • Identifying any areas of concern that could impact the performance of team members
  • Resolving any employee conflictsquickly and efficiently.
  • Providing hands-on direction for all activities and projects.
  • Presenting any pertinent information regarding project timelines, goals, or objectives to team members
  • Maximizing productivity by scheduling available staff members to the appropriate shift or project.
  • Guide and mentor the technical development of team.
  • Performance management responsibilities for reporting engineers.
  • Review production and quality Group Leader and TeamLeaderproject requests.
  • Attend and advise during breakdowns.
  • Perform General Duties as Requested by Engineering and Area & Managers.
  • Bottleneck monitoring and analysis.
  • Attend Pre-Shift and Post-Shift meetings and floor walks.
  • Review previous shift\'s throughput tracking.
  • Complete annual Capital Projects forecasting.

Additional

Additional responsibilities will include:
  • You will analyze and implement product or machinery designs for the best method for manufacturing processes.
  • You will propose and evaluate the processes for equipment in assigned area.
  • Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes for assigned area.
  • You will interact on a regular basis with design, product and manufacturing engineering staffs.
  • Provide direction to engineering support group and vendors.
  • Evaluate or monitor expenditures for processes and/or equipment.
  • Handle engineering projects with plants and/or Manufacturing Engineering Staffs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering or its equivalent in a related technical field, with a minimum of 6 years of experience in automation controls.
  • Experience leading a technical team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Experience working in a unionized manufacturing operation
  • Experience working with and troubleshooting robotics / controls systems, Fanuc robotics, ControlLogix PLCs and plant application controls and automation.
  • Strong technical capability working with industrial electrical systems regulations, design and maintenance, automation and controls systems.
  • Demonstrated technical project management experience.
  • Intermediate or advanced Control Logix PLC programming.
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives and HMIs.
  • General knowledge of Automotive Assembly application and operations.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple issues in afast pacedwork environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD

Preferred skills and experience:
  • Management experience in a manufacturing environment with extensive manual operations.
  • Human performance training and experience.
  • Team building training and experience.
  • Coaching, mentoring and teaching experience.
