This job is in CDPQ Fixed Income subsidiary.


Reporting to the Managing Director, Sovereign Debt and Rate Strategies, the successful candidate is responsible for G7 interest rate strategies within CDPQ\xe2\x80\x99s fixed income portfolio. Working alongside the existing team, the successful candidate plays an active role in developing and implementing rate strategies with a view to achieving the portfolios\xe2\x80\x99 performance targets via active management. In this regard, they will work to implement this investment philosophy while striving to achieve relative value performance targets over a long-term investment time horizon. Serving as a leader, ambassador and advisor within the Fixed Income business unit and across the organization, the successful candidate will be called upon to represent the business unit in connection with interest rates strategies affecting CDPQ\xe2\x80\x99s fixed income portfolios. The Rate Strategies investment philosophy is primarily based on fundamental and valuations analysis, in accordance with the needs of CDPQ\xe2\x80\x99s depositors, governance, investment policies and main orientations.

Main responsibilities
  • Develop, monitor and coordinate the execution of the portfolio strategies.
  • Ensure that the various portfolios\xe2\x80\x99 performance objectives are achieved.
  • Monitor relevant macroeconomic developments.
  • Mobilize, guide, and support the rate strategy team.
  • Serve on various investment committees and present the team\xe2\x80\x99s recommendations while exercising transversal institution wide influence.
  • Work closely with various CDPQ departments, including Risk Management and Economic Analysis.
  • Guide and supervise research in support of CDPQ\xe2\x80\x99s strategic goals.
  • Represent Fixed Income while reporting to management and the Board, as needed.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and management.


Requirements
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field
  • At least 15 years of portfolio management experience, primarily in rate management and government debt in the Canadian and U.S. markets
  • At least 10 years as a team leader
  • CFA and/or FRM program training would be an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of financial instruments, including cash-based and derivatives
  • Proficiency in fixed income portfolio management concepts
  • Related experience in growth markets would be an asset
  • Good understanding of decision-making software and tools (Bloomberg, etc.)
  • Bilingual
