About this opportunity:

The Workforce Analytics & Strategic Planning team in Human Resources (HR) is looking for an individual who is passionate about turning data into meaningful information, themes and insights that can be easily understood and applied across HR and Cenovus. Working closely with the Centers of Excellence (COEs) and the business, the Workforce Analytics & Reporting team strives to understand the needs of its partners in order to improve the value from data, reporting and analytics. Through this collaboration, the Workforce Analytics & Reporting team helps to develop insight that may drive action and provides advisory services in support of strategic objectives within HR and across Cenovus.

The successful candidate\xe2\x80\x99s responsibilities will include activities associated with developing predictive models to identify solutions for workforce related organizational challenges, discovering valuable insights and opportunities using statistical analysis, data mining and algorithmic techniques, and using visualization tools to build and maintaining dashboards, metrics and scorecards. The position requires a combination of technical, business and communication skills, with a focus on discovering, interpreting and communicating meaningful patterns and insights to advise strategic decision making in alignment with Cenovus\xe2\x80\x99 business and people strategies. The role will work closely with teams across HR and the business.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the people analytics strategy within HR and deliver impactful analysis that advises decision making to leaders within HR and across Cenovus
  • Support the visualization of workforce analytics, including demographics, statistics, metrics, and benchmarking on an on-going basis
  • Translate business requirements into effective data visualization dashboards (charts, graphs and illustrations) to ensure effective stories are told with the data
  • Champion the identification, development and execution of HR metrics and key performance indicators to evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness and impact of HR programs, processes and systems
  • Implement predictive analytics through data models and the deployment of statistical analyses, cause-and-effect hypothesis testing, and scenario planning
  • Deliver practical, concrete, and proactive analytics that drive HR\xe2\x80\x99s forecasting capabilities, business insights, and effective evaluation of Cenovus\xe2\x80\x99s investment in human capital through HR programs and services
  • Develop creative ways to streamline, improve and automate processes
  • Engage in project work to help mature HR business processes to enable the collection of high-quality data
  • Provide thought leadership on analytics that leads to continuous improvement of the Workforce Analytics program
  • Stay connected to external trends and innovations
  • Collaborate with HRIS and HR data owners, as well as the Cenovus Data Office, to promote appropriate data governance, processes, policies and stewardship
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with team members at various levels across the organization
  • Provide training and support to end users to support self-serve visualizations and analytics
Qualifications:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics or related fields
  • 7+ years of experience manipulating large datasets and using databases
  • Shown experience in data analysis and data science
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience with data analytics concepts and standard processes
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with sophisticated understanding of analytics tools and languages such as Power BI, R, Python and Excel VBA
  • Strong data expertise, including a solid understanding of data architecture, modeling, transformation, governance and management skills
  • Natural tendency to validate data results to ensure accuracy in data and reporting; interested in investigating anomalies independently
  • Ability to convey ideas and data clearly and effectively in written and verbal communications across all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying continuous improvement opportunities
  • Demonstrated passion for learning and challenging the status quo
  • Attitude focused on creativity, innovation and problem-solving
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and handle contending priorities effectively
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
