The Manulife Audit Services Data Analytics group supports the global audit teams by collaborating with them to provide meaningful data and successfully employ the use of data analytics in audit activities. These activities cover the different product lines and functions within the company globally. This includes Insurance, Wealth, Investment, and Banking products as well as actuarial and information technology functions.

The position of Manager, Data Analytics is a key team member in contributing to the development and execution of the Data Analytics Audit Services strategy globally. The successful candidate will bring their strong communication skills, innovation, a mindset for critical thinking, strategic and functional expertise, leveraged through data management and analytics to drive the success of this initiative.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Data Analytics, Audit Services.

Key Accountabilities:

Audit

Lead the development and execution of certain sections of the Audit Services strategy and road map for the DA program

Contribute to the development of Audit Services policies, strategy and direction; continually improve audit and supporting processes leveraging technology to the fullest;

Develop and maintain Data Analytics audit methodology and audit program (with support from Professional Practices) and provide training to Audit Services management, staff and key stakeholders;

Analytics

Owns and delivers the analytical project planning with 3-4 audit teams at the time, to establish projects of complex scope and deliverables, particularly for audit procedures and data collection tasks.

Develops and implements analytics enabled solutions to generate use of our data assets, descriptive and predictive analytics, and automated risk assessments to improve and enhance audit engagements, enable continuous auditing and other monitoring activities, and help identify and mitigate emerging risks

Planning and execution of the highest scope / complexity data analytics activities on audits, risk assessments and special internal projects (e.g. automation, Continuous Risk Monitoring, Continuous Auditing, ideate controls and data collection tasks, and analyze data and business rules); Partner with audit teams to define data analytics objectives across all types of audits; Rapidly implementing proof of concepts across multiple processes / data sets;

Develop detailed business and system knowledge within supported areas. Document business, system, and data knowledge to help build a robust knowledgebase for future efforts

Leverage expert applied understanding of programming, stats, machine learning, data visualization, exploratory data analysis, model production, insight generation and data wrangling, automation to identify gaps in control objectives of the business across multiple audits independently.

Execute audit analytic procedures conducted in full recognition of the risks of the client group which encompass the internal risks, control risks and internal/external environments and regulatory risks

Strong internal network at all levels of the organization, strong relationships with other Analytics counterparts within the organization.

Drive team skills development and engagement; manage talent across the team for development and succession and rotate change expertise;

Strong ability to generate and simplify recommended action plans coming out of complex data analysis projects, and to communicate complexity with clarity to diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization

What we are looking for

Advanced/Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or other analytics/technical field.

8+ years business experience including data analytics experience (a combination of audit and data analytics experience is preferred);

Deep understanding of programming languages and analytical tools for data mining, data extraction and analytics (e.g. Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, etc.). A track of record in applying analytics practical use cases \xe2\x80\x93 such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning Ops to address business problems is an asset;

Expertise with data management, thorough understanding of data analytics theory and application, ability to interface with internal business contacts and provide data analysis and management support, experience with a broad range of data platforms (SQL, Databricks, Azure etc.);

Expertise in helping define business problems or objectives and successfully designing and executing analytics solutions;

Experience with Big Data Platforms.

Expertise in leading high performing teams, coaching, motivating and mentoring others;

Deep knowledge of using data analytics for auditing purposes is preferred.

Competencies:

Confident presentation and facilitation skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate working with senior management at all levels;

Employ analytical, conceptual, and creative thinking skills to problem solve and get results;

Turn statistical and computational analysis into user-friendly graphs, charts, and animation. Enable those who aren\xe2\x80\x99t professional data analysts to effectively interpret data. Ability to communicate results and educate others through reports and presentations;

Exceptional influencing, relationship building and negotiation skills; professional presence, ability to navigate within a matrix environment and influence across different areas and all levels of management both in Audit Services and the business;

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location Toronto, Ontario

Salary range is expected to be between $89,950.00 CAD - $167,050.00 CAD
