Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto\xe2\x80\x99s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. If you can relate, we want to hear from you! Our Product & Innovation office is seeking a Manager, Tourism to join the team. This individual will be responsible for developing and managing new Regional Tourism initiatives for generating both ridership & revenue for GO Transit, PRESTO and UP Express brands. What will I be doing?
  • Develop Insights from data to recommend key regions and destinations for increasing GO/UP ridership
  • In alignment with GO brand strategy, identify key partner and event opportunities to deliver ridership and fare revenue objectives.
  • Form new partnerships with key players in each destination market, including BIA\xe2\x80\x99s, Regional Tourism Offices, and Municipal partners
  • Recommend new products and services to enhance our tourism strategy
  • Understand emerging market trends and jurisdictional leading practices
  • Lead cross divisional teams to implement new tourism products, promotions and services
  • Develop presentations for new partners, major stakeholders, senior management and Board committees to obtain support for new products, services or strategies.
  • Lead cross functional teams to implement new rail and bus services that support delivering increased ridership to key destinations
  • Administer Metrolinx\xe2\x80\x99s Tourism Strategy, by developing Regional Tourism partnerships that align with Metrolinx brand strategy, ridership goals and revenue targets.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to research and identify new destinations and customer experience gaps related to tourism travel & to maximize fare revenue initiatives and partnership opportunities
  • Manage internal and corporate compliance with the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) for non-fare revenue and Tourism initiatives
  • Develop, document, and implement team operating policies and procedures
  • Recommend annual Tourism marketing plan to meet customer needs, ridership and revenue goals
  • Work closely with operations and marketing divisions to ensure full alignment with adding or enhancing existing services to create tourism demand.
What skills & qualifications do I need?
  • Completion of a degree in Hospitality & Tourism, Marketing or a related discipline \xe2\x80\x93 or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Minimum eight (8) years\xe2\x80\x99 experience designing or managing tourism & marketing campaigns
  • Tourism Marketing, Training in business development, sales, account management and/or marketing is an asset
  • Management and leadership experience to provide strategic leadership and management oversight to a team of contributors
  • Negotiation and political acuity to obtain senior management and Board committee support for initiatives
  • Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills to present recommended program changes to internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Freedom of Information Act (FOI), Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA)
  • Financial reporting, analytical and problem solving skills to prepare and analyze financial reports
