POSITION TYPE:

Full-Time, Term Position Available (anticipated March 17, 2025 up to March 31 ,2030)

SALARY:

$62,337 - $87,859 per annum

DUTIES



The Manager, Research Operations is responsible for providing financial reporting and management expertise for applied research projects, acting as the key contact with funding bodies regarding financial and administrative matters, leading various administrative management processes and activities, managing Strategy Coordinator(s) staff, and engaging in quality and process improvement activities within Research Partnerships & Innovation (RPI).


This position focuses on managing and overseeing key operational, administrative, and research accounting aspects of the $24 million Lab to Market grant awarded to RRC Polytech. The Manager will support the Lab to Market Network Director and collaborate with the Office of Applied Research Services (OARS) team to ensure effective administration of the program and funding. Responsibilities include leading research accounting and compliance, hiring network personnel, developing systems for tracking and reporting across networks, managing funder claims, and working with Mitacs. The position will manage day-to-day operations and ensure processes and workflows are followed in alignment with agreements, governance and accountability frameworks, standard operating procedures, and annual operational plans.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Diploma in Commerce or Business Administration or a related field. Combination of education and experience may be considered Completion of Research Administration certification. Combination of education and experience may be considered Significant experience in financial management Experience within an academic or applied research setting Excellent organizational, analytical, research and creative skills Strong oral and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal and networking skills Demonstrated effective human resource management skills Demonstrated project management skills Demonstrated skill in the development and management of effective administrative data collection and reporting systems and processes Effective computer skills Knowledge of intellectual property Knowledge of capital planning, property management, space planning, etc. Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of constituents and organizations Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS


Formal training and/or certification in Project Management Direct experience in a research administration environment with interaction with external funding agencies Familiarity with the Tri-Council granting agencies and their financial administration guidelines and reporting requirements
