Under the supervision of the Program Manager, or designate, the Assistant Program Coordinator will provide daily support to the operations, case management, and data analysis of the program.
DUTIES: Assistant Program Coordinator duties include the following:
Support program operations.
Lead in case management and case planning.
Provide support and guidance to program staff.
Assist in developing and carrying out crisis plans.
Provide institutional support.
Make referrals to other professionals and advocate on client behalf.
Partner with local agencies to develop responsive supports for clients.
Maintain positive working relationships with landlords.
Role model and encourage independent problem solving and decision-making skills.
Provide reports, records, statistics, and budget, information as may be required by the program criteria.
Complete administrative tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned/needed.
Maintain confidentiality.
Education
Secondary education from Saskatchewan Polytechnic or Community Colleges, or Bachelor's degree, in a relevant field and [2] year of practical experience.
Practical Experience
Working knowledge and experience with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues, including: homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare system.
Working with a range of diverse clients, indiscriminate of: age, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, socio-economic status, religious preference, etc.
A combination of education and practical experience may be considered.
Knowledge and Skills
Working knowledge of the Mission, Vision and Values of the John Howard Society of Saskatchewan.
Working knowledge of the characteristics of disadvantaged persons.
Working knowledge of Restorative Justice and Harm Reduction practices.
Understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action.
Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
Exceptional writing and case management skills.
Strong verbal skills and the ability to communicate professionally.
Resourceful, flexible, and well organized.
Professional, responsive, and a positive work attitude.
Ability to make sound, timely, and accurate judgment while navigating crisis.
Ability to work independently.
Must maintain a positive relationship with clients, other staff, businesses, and government agencies.
Demonstrate empathy for those impacted by the Criminal Justice System.
Capability
To work and perform (flexible) rotational shifts: evenings, weekdays, and weekends.
To competently operate Microsoft Office 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

CPR
Food Safety
Asist
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
Successful candidates that do not possess the above trainings and certifications prior to their start date will receive support from JHSS to obtain and maintain their certifications.
Licenses and Records
The below valid licenses and records are required, prior to a successful candidate's official start date:
Valid Saskatchewan Driver's License, insurable to drive clients using JHSS-owned vehicles.
Cleared Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, dated no later than three (3) months prior to your start date. Initial costs will be absorbed by the employee.
