In this role you will be leading all buildings-related environmental sustainability initiatives for CTC\xe2\x80\x99s buildings portfolio across Canada with as key strategic initiative the development and execution of CTC\xe2\x80\x99s buildings decarbonization strategy. The Corporation has set a 40% emissions reduction target for our scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, including Dealer-operated Canadian Tire stores, by 2030 relative to a 2020 baseline.

What you\'ll do

In this role you will be leading all buildings-related environmental sustainability initiatives for CTC\xe2\x80\x99s buildings portfolio across Canada with as key strategic initiative the development and execution of CTC\xe2\x80\x99s buildings decarbonization strategy. The Corporation has set a 40% emissions reduction target for our scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions, including Dealer-operated Canadian Tire stores, by 2030 relative to a 2020 baseline. You will assess, prioritize and recommend emissions reduction and other sustainability opportunities for existing and new buildings (stores, offices and distribution centres) and develop a robust multi-year implementation plan. You will manage the execution of multi-site decarbonization retrofit programs, including the design, tender, budgeting, scheduling, incentive application, coordination, contractor management, safe & quality installation and program close-out.

Working with the other Real Estate, Finance and ESG teams, you will identify and roll out sustainability initiatives that align with the Real Estate Operating Plan and CTC\xe2\x80\x99s ESG strategy. You will manage two direct reports who assist in the implementation of the sustainability responsibilities, including energy data management, energy procurement, multi-site building efficiency retrofit programs, identification and piloting of innovative building technologies, integration of sustainability into store design and operations, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders on all matters related to real estate sustainability.

The position deals with constantly changing priorities, multiple stakeholders and the intricacies of the retail, sustainability, and construction industry at large.

What you bring

We are looking for an innovative, result driven leader with a passion for embedding sustainability practices in the workplace, and who can apply their expertise to ensure successful execution of the decarbonization strategy. The team is looking for someone who has:

University degree from recognized post-secondary institution in building, environmental science or related field.

5-7 years experience in construction or Real Estate in one or more of the following areas; building sciences, sustainability, project management, energy management, engineering

Good working knowledge of energy efficient buildings, decarbonization technologies as well as Net Zero buildings design

Good understanding of financial business case development, ESG strategies and climate change terminology

Ability to manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously with a large group of internal and external stakeholders, meeting set budgets and strict deadlines.

Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills

Ability to influence through persuasion, facilitate change management, and translate sustainability concepts into meaningful action

Retail experience is preferred

People management experience is preferred

Genuine interest in contributing to the development and execution of sustainability initiatives for a large Real Estate portfolio

Comfortable presenting to Senior Management and Executives
