Permanent, Full Time Located in beautiful Barry\xe2\x80\x99s Bay Ontario, the St. Francis Memorial Hospital is a 20 bed, fully accredited facility, offering medical, and complex continuing care as well as emergency and diagnostic services. The hospital has an extensive ambulatory care program with over 10,000 emergency visits per year. You will be part of a management team that is passionate about delivering quality health care to their patients. The St. Francis Memorial Hospital Finance Department is responsible for financial performance reporting, corporate budget development, accounting operations, payroll processing, internal controls, analysis and reporting for the department. Reporting to the Vice-President, Financial Services, the Manager supports the Finance Department, Senior Management, Board of Directors and all department leads with strategic financial information, budget management, forecasting, annual audit and other financial and statistical information. Key duties and responsibilities are:

  • Lead the Finance team.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements for St. Francis Memorial Hospital and its Services (including Rainbow Valley CHC), and associated Ministry of Health reporting.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and improvement of policies and procedures to ensure that appropriate internal financial controls are in place and maintained.
  • Program reporting for programs administered by the hospital, for example Hospital On-Call Coverage (HOCC), Emergency Department Alternate Funding Arrangement (ED AFA), HOOPP, other Ministry of Health incentives and programs.
  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Responsible for T4s and Annual Pension Report.
  • Processing payroll and in conjunction with the HR team ensure integrity of all payroll master files, implement all master salary scale changes.
  • Complete monthly Bank Reconciliations
  • Assist departments with budgeting and variance reporting.
  • Support SFMH Mission to provide high-quality, patient-centred healthcare in collaboration with our partners.
As an ideal candidate you have:
  • Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting or equivalent.
  • CPA Designation, preferred (CA, CMA, CGA) or be in the process of completing a designation.
  • Minimum 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in financial reporting and analytical experience in an accounting environment.
  • Experience with yearend audit file preparation.
  • General knowledge of accounting and tax legislation and regulations.
  • Hospital financial management experience in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Agile, flexible, and able to operate in a deadline-driven environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Experience with CCIM, QHR and Great Plains software an asset but not required.
  • Excellent attention to detail, highly dependable and service-oriented.
  • Able to effectively communicate with all staff, including technical, professional, management and physicians.
  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to work independently or in a group as a team member.
  • Criminal Record Check within the past six (6) months, or ability to obtain.
  • Proof of Covid vaccination or ability to obtain.
