Overview

Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are looking for bright new talent to join our team. We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Maintenance Manager to join us at our RSC Facility in Calgary, AB. You will be responsible for the maintenance, general upkeep and record keeping of the physical building fixtures, property and mobile equipment while promoting a positive, productive and safe work environment for the maintenance team.



The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing preventative maintenance and repairs to MHE/Building and operate a refrigeration plant. Manages the repairs on all equipment throughout the RSC. Actively contributes to a positive and productive working environment.

  • Follow and maintains preventative maintenance schedule on all equipment and building operations.
  • Operation of Ammonia and Glycol Refrigeration Plant
  • Ensure proper working condition of all refrigeration and heating, regular inspection, repair and replacement of warehouse racking, equipment and fire system maintenance
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the RSC\'s health and safety program by promoting a safe work culture, provides employees with instruction, information, supervision and facilities to encourage ongoing safe work practices
  • Co-ordinate daily activities of maintenance staff
  • Plan and schedule all equipment repairs/replacement in conjunction with purchasing as determined by approved capital budget
  • Ensure service agreements with third party providers are upheld and maintained
  • Manages parts inventory and re-ordering replacement parts as needed
  • Ensures completion of all daily inspections in a thorough and timely manner
  • Adhere to and implement all applicable Food Safety program requirements
  • All other duties as required to maintain the building
Job Requirements
  • Class A or B Gas Fitter license would be an asset
  • Certificate in an applicable trade
  • Previous experience in a Retail Support Centre Environment
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in an industrial forklift repair setting
  • Must be able to work unsupervised and complete assigned tasks
  • Safe working practices working around industrial warehouse equipment
  • Experience welding
  • Experience in electrical repairs
  • Sound computer skills - excel spread sheets and CMMS for tracking and scheduling of all preventative and reactive maintenance
  • Ability to communicate with suppliers, contractors and team members
  • Ability to safely use required tools to perform duties assigned
  • Required to lift weights of 5 to 50 kilograms
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures over long periods of time
  • Involves physical work including bending, lifting and reaching if required
  • Ability to travel to different locations
