Under the direction and guidance of the C&W Account Director, the Manager, Lease Documentation Specialist acts in the capacity of a strong people leader managing a team of Lease Documentation Specialists and at times will need to act as a player/coach and complete tasks that are similar to those performed by a commercial leasing law clerk. This role requires advanced knowledge of real estate and commercial leasing matters as well as experience in leading a high performing team. Major Responsibilities

  • Leads the Lease Documentation Specialist team by providing coaching and guidance;
  • Provide day to day assistance and advice including drafting regarding lease matters to the Lease Documentation Specialists, internal C&W contacts, Client Stakeholders and Client\xe2\x80\x99s legal department;
  • Oversees and/or reviews lease related documents prepared by the Lease Documentation Specialists as needed or required;
  • Participates in and manages special projects as requested by the Client and/or Client\xe2\x80\x99s Legal Department or Account Director;
  • Occasionally, draft, review and negotiate complex/difficult lease related documents, including but not limited to, offers to lease, letters of intent, leases, license agreements, lease amending agreement, non-disturbance agreements, etc.
  • Manage, update and provide input (as required) to Client\xe2\x80\x99s legal templates;
  • Continuous review of processes to identify improvements/gaps with a keen eye for innovation and efficiencies
  • Develop and manage a step down library of priority clauses with the support of the team and technology;
  • Manage metrics and reporting back to the client and Account Director;
  • Lead meetings/presentations as required with LDS team/Account team and/or client;
  • Act as Liaise with other Service Partners to ensure communication and processes are being adhered to as well as relationship building;
  • Manage the relationship and build a strong rapport with the client\xe2\x80\x99s Law Group;
  • Subject matter expert of lease related documents, LL/TT rights;
  • Training and onboarding of new team members, as required;
  • Part of Account Leadership Team
  • Attend, prepare material and participate in Client meetings;
Knowledge and Experience
  • 5 plus years of leading a team of Lease Documentation Specialists/Law Clerks
  • 7 plus years of experience working as a real estate law clerk and/or paralegal with experience in negotiating, drafting and interpreting lease related documentation
  • Completion of Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario Law Clerk Program and/or Paralegal Certification preferable
  • In depth understanding of Commercial Leasing and Real Estate Law
  • Dependable and highly motivated with the ability to work effectively in a cohesive team environment
  • Demonstrated aptitude to lead a high performing team
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Well-developed organizational skills allowing the ideal candidate to balance multiple Responsibilities and deliverables while ensuring Client satisfaction
  • Advanced technology skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Understanding of working with sensitive and confidential information.
