Resumes are being accepted for the position of Manager IT Operations within the Information Technology Department. Reporting to the General Manager, Information Technology, this position is responsible for the management of the IT Service Desk, and IT Infrastructure teams. Guided by the goals and objectives of the City of Guelph Corporate Strategic Plan and committed to the Corporate Values of integrity, service, inclusion, wellness and learning, the candidate will aid in the achievement of the Community Vision for an inclusive, connected, prosperous city.


Your Role

  • Oversee and manage the delivery of services for the IT Service Desk, and IT infrastructure teams
  • Oversee and manage the IT cyber security portfolio for the City of Guelph
  • Oversee and manage division metrics and KPI\xe2\x80\x99s
  • Manage crisis situations, oversee issue escalation and resolution
  • Manage the delivery of IT support and IT infrastructure systems, applications, and services
  • Support, participate, lead in developing IT strategic goals for the City of Guelph
  • Manage work planning and resource allocation for the IT Service Desk and IT Infrastructure teams
  • Drive incident, product, change management and production readiness for new environments, champion simplification, automation plus end-to-end capacity and performance management.
  • Align IT support and IT infrastructure with current and future business requirements and strategic goals
  • Manage the provision and support of end-user services, including service desk and technical support services
  • Manage the provision of IT infrastructure services, focusing on reliability, performance, efficiency, and business continuity
  • Manage financial aspects of the IT operations division, including purchasing, budgeting, contract review and negotiation
  • Provide coaching, development, succession, recruitment, resource management, team leadership, input into performance and development plans
  • Direct technology activities - striking a balance between improvements and production support activities
  • Collaborate with different technology teams to ensure effective governance in the context of delivering IT service, support, and maintenance.
  • Keep up with business and technology developments and trends affecting lines of business for the City of Guelph.
  • Direct, mentor and support IT service desk supervisor in development and growth goals for self and team
  • Direct, mentor and support IT infrastructure supervisor in development and growth goals for self and team
  • Ability to work outside normal hours as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications
  • Experience related to the duties listed above, normally acquired through post-secondary education in Information Technology or related field and considerable experience in an IT leadership role with relevant experience related to the position. Candidates with an equivalent education and experience may be considered
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and/or projects (including financials) with increasing degree of complexity and broad scope
  • Ability to work independently and often autonomously in the management of projects, teams and operational disciplines and apply strategic thinking throughout the execution of work plans.
  • Diverse, innovative thinking with respect to reusability of architecture and processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, stakeholders and external vendors
  • Sound management techniques, experience in problem resolution and development of strategies for operational improvement.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with IT networks, Cloud, Data Center, PC, corporate Wi-Fi, mobile technologies, and overall functionality
  • Technical knowledge and experience with IT server architecture, virtualized environments, and related technology
  • Technical knowledge and experience working with cloud and cloud architectures
  • Experience managing IT Service Desk team, with knowledge of ITSM systems and processes
  • Experience overseeing and managing IT Asset teams and related functions
  • Experience overseeing and managing corporate software licensing agreements such as Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk, VMware, Commvault, etc.
  • Experience and knowledge of procurement processes in relation to IT systems and services
  • Experience managing IT cyber security with knowledge and expertise in disaster avoidance, recovery issues, and business continuity. Cyber security certifications such CISSP, CISA or Security+ would be an asset
  • Customer focused with strong ability to work with all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to plan and budget appropriately for a diverse technology environment
  • Experience managing in vendors, contracts, and service level agreements
  • Experience in project management, PMP would be an asset
  • Experience and knowledge of ITIL, ITIL certifications would be an asset
  • A valid Class G drivers licence with a good driving record. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract prior to their start date to confirm their licence is held in good standing and that it has not been suspended or revoked under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) or Criminal Code of Canada in the last 5 years. The City of Guelph will take into consideration the number of demerit points and/or nature of the infractions to determine if it meets our requirements

Rate

$110,921.60- $138,652.00
