Job Description


Under the direction of the Senior Lead & Strategic Advisor, Equity Diversity & Inclusion the Manager, Human Rights will lead the implementation of Human Rights (HR) and inclusion strategies. The role supports central efforts to improve equity, diversity and inclusion and programs by leading effective departmental HR &I planning efforts and serving as an internal consultant, providing content expertise for the purposes strategy design, implementation and training.
This role will possess a professional, expert and comprehensive awareness of human rights and & inclusion initiatives and require strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully collaborate with individuals and working groups. The focus of the role will include project development, engagement of employees with HR&I initiatives ensuring programs are within operational alignment.
In addition, the Human Rights and Inclusion Lead will,

  • Lead, promote, implement and execute human rights & inclusion initiatives ensuring compliance to legislation, collective agreements , legislations and Hospital policies/procedures with an end result of operational success and a positive impact to Hamilton Health Sciences;
  • Build strategic relationships across the organization to promote the use of EDI for key transformational initiatives;
  • Provide strategic high level advice, education, training, coaching and facilitation to stakeholders on matters of equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives, identifying quantifiable results, system design and effective communication;
  • Developing key initiatives and strategies that re-enforce the Mission, Vision, Values and Goals of HHS while enhancing the organization\xe2\x80\x99s reputation and brand.
Qualifications

1. Undergraduate Degree in Human Rights, Humanities, Business Administration, Public Policy & Administration, Law or equivalent related experience required
2. Advanced university degree (Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalent degree) in law, human rights, social sciences, international relations, business administration, public policy or related area is preferred.
3. Significant experience (at least 5 years) leading a team of Individual Contributors responsible for the implementation of Human Rights (HR) and inclusion strategies. ]
4. Demonstrated leadership skills, influencing performance driven teams while aligning with organization values, setting priorities and undertaking multiple tasks with tight deadlines
5. Demonstrated emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills; ability to influence an outcome across all levels through a consultative methodology
6. Ability to work independently and effectively as leader or member in teams, on task-forces, and committees
7. Understanding of effectiveness methodologies, change management, project management and process improvement skills.
8. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and Ontarians with Disabilities Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Sexual Violence and Harassment Action Plan Act, the Employment Equity Act (and/or Federal Contractors Program), the Pay Equity Act and other relevant human rights legislation
9. Strong knowledge of diversity and inclusion principles, trends, research methods, statistical analysis and reporting
10. Strong ability to conduct research, design, develop plans/procedures/write reports
11. Ability to be creative and proactive in offering new approaches to problem solve
12. Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with a keen ability to engage with various stakeholders and members of the community, resulting in collaborative partnerships and beneficial results
13. Trained facilitator \xe2\x80\x93 small and large group work
14. Trusted leader, consulting with formal and informal leadership
