As a key component of our People & Culture leadership team, the Manager, Human Resources is responsible for the leadership, coaching and development of the Human Resources team, ensuring timely and effective operational support to stakeholders, and the ongoing execution of People & Culture processes and objectives. Reporting to the Vice-President, People & Culture, the Manager, Human Resources will lead assigned projects aimed at HR process/program improvement and enhancement of the employee experience in alignment with Cambrian?s strategic objectives. Cambrian?s Human Resources team is responsible to maintain and enhance our best-in-class employment experience through HR programs & processes, talent acquisition/management, workforce planning, employee relations, disability management, compensation, payroll and benefits.
In the role of Manager, Human Resources, you will:
  • Lead the Human Resources team, including performance management, ongoing coaching and development.
  • Execute on People & Culture processes and assigned projects, including both annual processes such as merit, and new programs and projects.
  • Act as an advisor and coach to leaders & Human Resources team on complex HR matters including, employee relations, compensation, performance management, change management, leadership, disability management, return to work and accommodation.
  • Oversee and at times directly provide full-range recruitment services to leaders at all levels in the organization (identification of staffing need, sourcing, recruitment, offer and employee onboarding).
  • Actively network with others to develop relationships that enhance employer brand and attract highly qualified candidates/interest in Cambrian as an employer.
  • Assist in leading the formal talent management strategy including the annual performance appraisal process. Work closely with leaders to identify and develop performance objectives.
  • Develop, maintain and model a thorough knowledge of policies, procedures and corporate values. Assist in the development and communication of HR policies and procedures to all staff.
  • Work closely with the Manager, Employee Development to identify training needs which may be impacting employee performance, develop learning plans to support employees.
  • Leverage HR Technologies such as the UKG HRIS (full-suite) and other enterprise technologies to enhance the employee experience and minimize waste in HR process through continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the Payroll and Benefits function, ensuring adherence to all regulations and championing data accuracy.
  • Perform all other duties and functions as deemed necessary or required by the Vice-President, People & Culture.

Your experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of job-related experience in an HR Generalist role, with experience in employee relations, recruitment, policy development and experience leading HR projects
  • Strong knowledge of employment standards, workplace health and safety and human rights legislation.
  • Minimum 1-year direct leadership experience.
  • Post secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Human Resources and/or CPHR designation considered an asset.
  • High emotional intelligence, with a demonstrated ability to adapt communication, coaching and leadership style to navigate challenging situations and influence behaviors in a highly diverse environment.
  • Critical thinker who analyzes information and uses logic to address issues, problems and challenges, in a fast-changing, ambiguous environment.

  • Previous experience in the financial services industry
  • Experience with UKG or Ultipro HRIS
