Our Brampton location is presently looking for Manager, Human Resources.

Job purpose

The main responsibility of this position is to consult, advice and coach on people management and organizational needs to ensure alignment of human capital with business strategy. This position is consultative, influential and will require strong collaboration with other HR team members and client groups.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide advice and guidance to Client Groups on a wide range of issues relating to staffing, people management, terminations, employee relations, investigations, disability management, policy interpretation, etc. Advise and guide within the context of legal implications, potential risks, overall HR strategy, implications on policies and practices while mitigating and minimizing risk.
  • Manage relationship, headcount and budget with temporary staffing service providers.
  • Coach clients on key areas such as: people management, objective setting and development, recruitment; terminations; HR policy application and interpretation; compensation, development; employment equity; change management, team effectiveness; and performance.
  • Maintain Pay Equity Program to ensure PE Commission readiness - maintain Pay Equity register, evaluate jobs in alignment with internal and external benchmarking and conduct annual Pay Equity review.
  • Conduct external benchmarking survey analysis and provide survey participant information including job mapping.
  • Assist Managers with all aspects of the annual performance management and development process including coaching leaders on effective documentation practices relating to performance ensuring legal compliance. Provide constructive feedback to evaluator to improve quality of evaluation where necessary.
  • Review, recommend and draft new and/or modifications to policies and procedures.
  • Ensure effective claims management of STD/LTD claims.
  • Plan and deliver strategic support for activities related to full cycle recruitment process for assigned client groups including strategy, posting, interviewing, selection, candidate relations and offers.
  • Coach Managers in their day to day activities ensuring compliance with all appropriate employment and human rights legislation.
  • Collaborate with the Health, Safety and Environment Team to ensure a high awareness of employee safety is maintained within client group.
  • Ensure compliance with human rights and employment standards legislation.
  • Facilitation and review of training programs, in conjunction with HR Director.
  • Backup for Associate Director, HR function.
  • Responsible for creation of employee correspondence, offer letters, performance letters and other administrative tasks to support client groups.
  • Participates in the coordination of employee events including supporting the employee engagement committee.
  • Assist client groups with special projects as required.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • University Degree and / or completion of a Human Resources Management Certificate Diploma Program
  • 8-10 years of progressive generalist experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Background in pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Strong commitment to ethics and compliance
  • Superior consulting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients at all levels of the organization and influence decisions
  • Collaborative team player with demonstrated professional and emotional maturity and judgment to handle sensitive situations with integrity, diplomacy, tact and high ethical standards
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), HRIS and time and attendance tracking systems
  • Creative, innovative, detail oriented and demonstrates high level of initiative
  • Strong problem solving abilities required to act as internal consultant to Management and employees on all HR issues
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and take action when required while maintaining focus on timely and quality completion of projects
Working conditions

Typical office environment. Tight deadlines, ad hoc requirements and unusual circumstances create an atmosphere of urgency, which can produce stress. Regularly respond to non-routine and complex problems relating to people management and employee relations to provide guidance and recommendations in compliance with legal and human right legislation in a rapidly changing atmosphere.
