About the Opportunity




At Zen Residential Ltd., we deliver top-tier asset and property management services to rental property owners across Edmonton, Calgary, and surrounding areas. As our multifamily portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking a Manager of Financial Reporting and Compliance to lead our property accounting team and ensure accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting across our operating portfolio.


This leadership role is pivotal in driving financial integrity, ensuring regulatory compliance (including RECA standards), and fostering a high-performing accounting team. You'll work closely with owners, property managers, and senior leadership to ensure all financial deliverables align with professional standards and support operational success.

Key Responsibilities



Oversee the complete, accurate, and timely financial reporting for Zen's multifamily operating portfolio Manage, mentor, and develop a team of property accountants, fostering professional growth and accountability Lead the onboarding, training, and development of new and existing accounting staff Review and approve the work of property accountants, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal standards and timelines Ensure ongoing compliance with RECA regulations and serve as the audit lead during RECA audits Facilitate owner financial requests, including custom reporting, analysis, and explanation of financial results Oversee the financial onboarding and offboarding of properties, ensuring smooth transitions Develop and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, and SOPs aligned with GAAP and industry best practices Coordinate with external auditors and manage all aspects of audit preparedness Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Collaborate with operations, asset management, and executive leadership to support business strategy and compliance Lead initiatives to streamline reporting processes and improve accounting systems for scalability and efficiency

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline CPA designation (or equivalent) strongly preferred 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role Strong understanding of GAAP, RECA regulations, and multifamily real estate financial operations Experience with property management accounting platforms (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) Proven ability to lead audits and maintain regulatory compliance Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills
