Job Description


Reporting to the Head of Purpose and Sustainability this new role will be responsible for the development and production of our annual ESG report, managing and maintaining quarterly ESG update and other reports related to Gore Mutual's ESG investing practices. This includes reporting against targets set, ratings such as the annual CDP submission and general market indices, as well as other rankings and awards submissions related to ESG. This role will drive Gore Mutual’s ESG reporting and disclosures processes, day to day data management, and year-end reporting including third party assurance. What will you do?

  • Partner with key stakeholders and external consultants in the preparation of ESG-related disclosures to report on Gore Mutual’s sustainability strategy and performance, covering key ESG topics, while maturing Gore Mutual’s ESG disclosure strategy and approach
  • Conduct peer benchmarking and proactively monitor, assess, and evaluate impact of ESG-related standards and trends to derive insights to inform the reporting strategy and drive best-in-class ESG disclosures. Share findings, insights, and education material with internal stakeholders across the organization
  • Develop strong internal business and functional partner relationships to foster a greater understanding of key disclosures and emerging trends
  • Partner with key stakeholders, monitor for relevant developments from such key bodies as the IFRS Foundation (e.g., proposed International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)), and help shape future ESG-related disclosure requirements by supporting advocacy efforts on ESG-related matters across the organization and through industry associations
  • Advance the reporting strategy (reviewing scope, purpose, structure, and synergies across adjacent reports, such as the Annual Report) recommending fit-for-purpose governance, controls, and processes around substantive ESG data and metrics
  • Participate, on behalf of Gore Mutual, on industry working groups and committees related to ESG disclosures and financial disclosures when required
  • Engage with Gore Mutual’s Communications team to prepare internal and external communication pieces related to Gore Mutual’s progress against ESG related KPIs and targets.
  • Contribute in communicating Gore Mutual’s journey to maturity and enhance Gore Mutual’s ESG disclosure process, through the preparation of materials for senior executives and the Board
  • Support survey responses to priority ESG ratings such as the CDP.
  • Manage the content collection, development, and publishing of Gore Mutual’s annual ESG Report and quarterly update reports
  • Manage Gore Mutual’s third-party assurance process for our annual ESG Report
  • Produce disclosure requirements related to Gore Mutual’s association with global membership organizations such as the PRI and PSI
  • Provide internal stakeholders with training and knowledge to meet current and upcoming ESG related external disclosure requirements

What will you need to succeed?
  • 3-5 years of experience in ESG Reporting
  • Project management experience from conception to publication
  • Strong understanding of regulatory disclosure requirements
  • CPA or Financial Reporting experience an asset
  • In depth knowledge of reporting frameworks to include: GRI, SASB, CDP, GHG Protocol, TCFD as well as the development of ISSB; and strong understanding of the SDGs and aligning activity/reporting strategy
  • Experience analyzing issues and providing solutions to enhance and drive ESG strategy and initiatives
  • Experience and knowledge in ESG rating/evaluation systems
  • Experience working with senior leaders and executives internally and externally
  • Experience in insurance or financial sector strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in a cross-functional setting
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking; including ability to recommend practical solutions to complex challenges in a dynamic environment
