SAFETY. TEAMWORK. INTEGRITY. BURNCO is hiring a Senior Manager, Treasury & Reporting to join our busy and growing team of Finance professionals in our new Calgary, Alberta headquarters. Under the direction of the Corporate Controller, the Senior Manager, Treasury and Reporting will play a key role in financial reporting, treasury, team leadership and mentoring, technical accounting matters, business analysis, and process improvements. You’re very proficient in working with data from multiple information systems and can provide recommendations for improvement in accounting processes and internal controls. You are a focused individual with high attention to detail and ability to think critically. What Will You Be Doing
Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Coordinating and preparing monthly consolidated reporting packages with Divisional Finance Teams
  • Support corporate consolidation by maintaining documentation for variance analysis and intercompany eliminations
  • Completion of quarterly and annual financial statements, including notes in accordance with ASPE
  • Completion of quarterly and annual management’s discussion & analysis
  • Partner with Corporate Cost Center owners to review costs, complete budgets, and forecasts
  • Present any issues encountered with proposed resolutions to Corporate Controller
  • Coordinating annual financial audit; prepare year end working papers and schedules; provide support, coordination, address and respond to queries from auditors and internal reviewers while taking ownership of issues and ensuring a timely and successful resolution
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes collaborating with the Financial Process function
  • Responsible for the research and resolution of accounting issues, including evaluation and implementation of new accounting standards to ensure ASPE compliance with supporting memo documentation
  • Communicating, assisting, and collaborating with internal and external clients in an effective and professional manner
  • Complete the consolidation of all financial information and metrics necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
Treasury
  • Manage treasury function: meeting short and long-term funding needs including day to day treasury operations and allocation of cash balances between operating entities; optimization of debt and cash positions
  • Complete 13-week cashflow model including analysis of forecast to actuals
  • Ensure the maintenance of corporate liquidity and financial stability
  • Completion of quarterly covenant calculations and compliance certificates
  • Manage key treasury risks including FX, interest rate and credit
  • Oversee Insurance program – key point of contact for renewal process and policies
  • Direct development and revision of financial policies for working capital, treasury operations, foreign exchange risk management, credit risk management and insurance risk management
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to other team members
Leadership
  • Take a leadership role to collaborate with Operations, Operations Finance, and Corporate Decision Support teams
  • Establish relationships and communicate effectively with people in a variety of departments
  • Engage with staff and management regularly to discuss status of activities and deadlines
Requirements What We Would Like From You Education, Certifications, Qualifications & Experience
  • Accounting Designation required (CPA, CA)
  • Completion of post-secondary education in Business Administration/Commerce (Accounting or Finance) is required
  • Minimum 5+ years of private sector experience, preferably in a complex environment, with a multi-jurisdictional construction or manufacturing organization would be ideal
  • Minimum 5+ years leading and managing financial teams; demonstrated experience in building and mentoring high performing teams
  • Experience at an accounting firm preferred
  • Financial reporting experience including completion of Financial Statements, MD&A and Audit Committee Reporting
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE, IFRS and COSO framework
  • Team player, coach, mentor, continuous improvement bias with vision on better methods and processes
  • Computer proficient with demonstrated ability to use sophisticated spreadsheet software within a Windows based environment; Oracle Cloud experience an asset
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across all areas of an organization and at all levels, from line staff to senior executive team
  • Strong organization skills
  • Demonstrated oral, written and listening communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Takes initiative and is accountable to complete tasks and meet deadlines
