The Manager, Enterprise Risk Management is responsible for supporting all aspects of the enterprise-wide risk management program. The Manager works with stakeholders across the organization to identify, assess, monitor, and control all enterprise-level risks. Develops best-practice processes and methodologies to assess and manage risks consistently across the Corporation. Reports risks and mitigations to senior leaders in support of strategic decision-making and corporate planning. Ensures that corporate risks are effectively mitigated through policies, procedures, training, initiatives and other controls.

Job Responsibilities

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Manager, Enterprise Risk Management.

  • Institutes best practices for managing enterprise-level strategic, financial, and operational risks and conducts ongoing risk assessments with business leads from across the organization.
  • Identifies new, emerging risks and evaluates risks against a variety of criteria (e.g. external reports and trends, internal reports and KPIs, stakeholder consultations) to provide insight and recommendations on risk mitigations and contingencies.
  • Coordinates internal stakeholder consultations, prepares discussion materials, and facilitates cross-functional risk review sessions.
  • Provides insightful, quality reporting to internal stakeholders, including developing presentations and briefing notes to support risk updates to executive and board committees.
  • Manages and updates the ERM Risk Register, describing and assessing the Corporation\'s top risks and associated controls.
Job Responsibilities (continued)
  • Contributes to establishing risk tolerance levels and developing risk appetite statements.
  • Reviews, advises, and guides the preparation of risk scenario models and financial estimates.
  • Develops risk surveys, analyzes survey results and prepares summary reports of findings. Communicates findings and facilitates stakeholder discussions to gather key, actionable insights.
  • Coordinates risk management activities across silos and educates functional business units on risks that may impact them. Works collaboratively with other stakeholders, ensuring synergy, harmonization, and a shared understanding of risks across the Corporation.
Qualifications

Education
  • Post secondary degree, preferably in a related field (e.g. Business Administration, Risk Management, Strategy) OR a combination of equivalent professional experience and training
Experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in risk management or a related field (e.g. business administration, strategy, audit and assurance)
  • One or more years of experience in a unionized environment is an asset
Other Candidate Requirements
  • Designation or certification in Risk Management would be an asset, such as the Canadian Risk Management designation or the COSO ERM Certificate
  • Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs
  • Advanced business acumen and sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
