Reporting to the Senior Manager of Content and Localization, the Manager of English Content is responsible for developing a best-in-class English content strategy that represents the SSENSE point of view while supporting various business goals. They will also lead the implementation and execution of strategies for our English channels. The ideal candidate will manage a growing, high-performing team of editors, translators, copywriters, strategists and specialists, working collaboratively with other departments to discover, craft, edit and project manage the narratives that will be most relevant to our English-speaking customers. Responsibilities
English Content & Localization - 40%

  • Ensure written content, primarily for ecommerce and digital marketing, is differentiated in the marketplace while reinforcing brand values and corporate mission
  • Analyze team performance metrics and KPIs to identify potential efficiency improvements and determine solutions for at-risk areas
  • Stay current on industry activities, new technologies, and best practices in content marketing for English-speaking consumers
  • Continuously audit and evaluate existing content, identifying gaps and proposing strategic opportunities for content development informed by a combination of experience, experimentation data analysis and research
  • Help plan and conduct user testing to ensure the customer value of our initiatives, as needed
  • Ideate, write and conceptualize high-impact brand narratives that will drive ROI and impact in terms of cultural relevance, as well as customer loyalty and engagement
  • Top-edit content that requires additional support or oversight to ensure quality standards are met
  • Measure, track and report content results to stakeholders
  • Inform, align and develop with other content managers the SSENSE brand narratives to ensure core brand values are delivered with precision and cohesiveness
People Leadership & Development - 30%
  • Coach, and mentor a team of Content & Localization experts to grow, develop, and achieve development goals while contributing to our strategy and purpose
  • Monitor, optimize, and evaluate team OKRs to ensure objectives are met
  • Oversee resource planning for functional teams and develop organizational model that can scale with the needs of the business and across different physical locations
  • Design, lead and host creative workshops to challenge the teams in pitching, researching and developing ideas to support original content creation
  • Work with Studio leadership to actively build an atmosphere of openness, honesty, respect, and collaboration within the team and across the organization to ensure positive engagement
Strategy & Project Management - 30%
  • Sign off on production deadlines
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Product and other Content & Localization Managers to establish targets and benchmarks in such areas as productivity, time-to-market, cost-efficiency, quality; recommend adoption of cost- and time-saving processes and technologies for use in concert with vendors
  • Ensure special projects and launches are properly integrated within production and delivered with the highest quality from beginning to end
  • Lead business partnerships in recruiting specialized outsourcers and consultants; negotiate agreements and rates with third parties
  • Supervise the progression of key projects from conception to completion, providing concept reviews and approvals as needed
  • Analyze team performance metrics and KPIs to identify potential efficiency improvements and determine solutions for at-risk areas


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • Gifted storyteller with a minimum of 5 years experience writing and editing high-impact, conversion-driven content, ideally in an agency, publishing, media, luxury, or e-commerce environment
  • A minimum of 5 years in a management position with direct reports
  • Excellent understanding of fundamental business concepts, SEM, SEO, and content marketing strategies
  • Demonstrated understanding of audience development, engagement and distribution strategies
  • Exceptional understanding of our brand values and how to develop the market-specific voice and messaging effectively
  • Mastery of Simplified English grammar, spelling, and usage including the ability to craft culturally-sensitive texts
