Program Overview
Reporting to the Director, Program Development, Communications and Compliance and as part of the JVS Toronto Management Team, the Manager, Development will oversee the Agency\xe2\x80\x99s fundraising plan and donor engagement strategy. The Manager, Development will be joining the rest of the Communications and Development department which works hand in hand with program staff across the organization to develop marketing materials, raise awareness for our programs and services, liaise with stakeholders, attract new clients and raise funds to deliver our services.

We\xe2\x80\x99re looking for a proactive and self-motivated individual who will:

  • Build strong relationships with existing and prospective donors, including individuals, foundations and corporations
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan which incorporates a variety of fundraising channels and strategies; research, monitor, and report regularly on progress
  • Manage grant writing process and calendar, including prospect research, proposal writing and reports
  • Oversee donor database to ensure accurate and comprehensive information and identify opportunities
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather compelling content about the agency, our programs and services to use in stakeholder communications
  • Coordinate with the department to develop agency communications, including our Annual Report, donor newsletter, etc.
  • Oversee agency events
  • Support Volunteer and relevant Board Committees
  • Oversee small team of direct reports
Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a related field. International degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency.
  • 5+ years of related experience; a proven track record in fundraising is required
  • Minimum 2 \xe2\x80\x93 3 years of management experience
  • Knowledge of fundraising concepts, methodologies, and tools; experience with donor databases, Raiser\xe2\x80\x99s Edge preferred
  • Understanding of grant, proposal, and report writing for foundations and major donors
  • Effective interpersonal, motivational, presentation, networking, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively across a large organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of diversity and social inclusion
  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills
  • Effective organizational and time management skills; ability to adapt to change, prioritize competing deadlines, and multi-task with strong attention to detail
  • Computer literate with ability to use Microsoft Suite tools and ability to learn agency-used databases
Our ideal candidate will also have:
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Fundraising, Non-profit Management or a related field
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment
  • Understanding of the needs and issues of the agency\xe2\x80\x99s target population
  • Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and access to a vehicle as some travel will be required
