Job Summary
The Communications Manager provides strategic communications advice in support of the organization\'s vision and has experience advising senior leaders; managing communications issues; and leading projects and large-scale public and corporate events. The manager initiates, develops, researches, executes, manages and evaluates communications plans and strategies for a range of projects, issues, events and other initiatives.
The Communications Manager is an expert writer who has the ability to grasp complex medical and technical information and communicate it in an easy-to-understand manner. The role requires the ability to write compelling materials for print and electronic media, as well as the technical aptitude to post content to social media platforms, the Intranet and corporate website. The manager and balances competing priorities and timelines in a fast-paced environment and participates on several committees; works collaboratively with partners on joint communications initiatives; and seeks opportunities to proactively promote the organization\'s positive stories.
This manager reports to the Senior Director - Provincial Public Affairs and works closely with other members of the communications department within a small team environment. The manager must have the ability to lead work independently, multi-task, work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to changing needs.
Job Qualifications
Education
Successful completion of a Bachelor\'s Degree in communications, public relations or journalism is required.
Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the communications or public relations field is required.
Knowledge and understanding of corporate communications and the provincial health-care system is required
Experience working in communications with internal and external stakeholders is required.
Considerable project management experience is preferred.

Solid analytical experience and skills as a strategic thinker.
Superior writing and interpersonal communication skills are fundamental to the position.
Ability to lead work independently, multi-task in a fast-paced environment; and meet tight deadlines while adapting to changing needs.
Ability to establish positive and productive working relationships with diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders.

The manager acts with integrity, possesses good judgement and exemplifies NL Health Services\' corporate values.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
The senior manager should have the ability to work on site and virtually, as required, travel on short notice, and outside of regular working hours, as required.
