We are looking for a Manager, Clean Fuels to join us in the exciting work we do in the Commercial & Strategy Team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Clean Fuels Commercials & Strategy, it'll be your responsibility to support the execution and development of CU's clean fuels strategies in North America. In this position, you also get to advise on commercial and financial strategies for growth projects; handle project approval processes; and business strategy development. What You Get To Do:

  • Project Commercial & Financial Strategy
  • Support activities related to strategic, commercial, financial, and economic execution for EI's hydrogen growth initiatives in North America.
  • Work in partnership with business development to support external negotiations and evaluate impacts of various commercial alternatives and pricing strategies on project outcomes.
  • Work with the business development team and ATCO's corporate treasury department to support the development and execution of funding strategies for major projects.
  • Project Approvals
  • Lead hydrogen projects through the internal project approval processes and write business cases and capital approval documents for Executive and Board of Director Approvals.
  • Business Strategy Development
  • Provide expertise and knowledge in the development of strategic plans and analyses.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities, assess the competitive landscape, and market fundamentals which underpin growth initiatives.
  • Supervise and evaluate strategic impacts of ongoing policy, ESG, customer and competitor activities within EI's core hydrogen markets and use competitive intelligence to advance practical project execution strategies.
  • Develop long term strategies that reflect the competitive landscape for hydrogen across competing production technologies and different carbon intensities.
  • Handle the development and compilation of hydrogen strategy and business plan materials for CU's Board of Directors.
Who You Are:
  • Minimum of an Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Commerce or Engineering
  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience within an accounting, corporate finance, valuation or closely related role.
  • One of the following designations is required: CFA, MBA, MA, CPA, or CBV.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of energy sectors and key trends, including ESG and climate policy trends
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen with an ability to analyze and interpret the economic impact of business opportunities and provide recommendations on how to best structure the transaction.
  • Proven ability in solving unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business.
  • Strong understanding of key energy transition drivers, including policy, climate and ESG factors
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to write concise reports and presentations, and verbally communicate multi-dimensional issues in a clear manner while acting with a sense of diplomacy.
  • Exceptional financial modelling skills.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance, tax, and accounting concepts.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a constantly evolving environment with minimal direction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects under tight timelines, with flexibility to work long hours and weekends as required
