. This position manages the Institute's Audio Visual (AV) Services including AV Operations, AV Capital Projects and AV Installations. Fosters a culture of customer service excellence, continuous improvement and cross-collaboration with other functional areas for the delivery and improvements of AV services. Provides input and advice to Library leadership team for Department and Institute planning on issues related to AV services, operations, resources, space, equipment and technologies. Facilitates a culture of customer service excellence and continuous improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities
KEY
ACCOUNTABILITIES
:
Participates as a member of the Library Director's leadership team, focusing on the development of strategies, plans, and procedures for AV services and projects. Shares responsibility for achievements and success.
Develops plans, sets goals and objectives for the team to achieve operational results. Manages the operations of the AV unit to ensure the accountability and optimal use of campus resources (operational, human, fiscal), in compliance with Institute policies and departmental goals and objectives. Brings user perspectives to the forefront when delivering all services and products.
Manages and assures delivery of professional quality AV support across all campuses and buildings, in classrooms, labs, and event spaces including live streaming for academic and institutional events.
Develops plans for AV staffing needs and ensures availability of AV staff for key events and future projects. Monitors operations across all areas of accountability to the highest standard.
Collaborates closely with ITS, Facilities, Learning Technologies & Services and other teams to ensure alignment, streamlined operations and projects, and to manage the delivery of the AV services, technology needs, and client support.
Provides leadership on audiovisual specifications for facilities and collaborates with the ITS team to research, evaluate, and adopt shared standards in system design to ensure technology enhances the Institute's educational mission. Consults with the Schools, and other partners to understand AV needs and expectations.
Represents AV Services in campus planning meetings and other internal committees.
Oversees the planning, designing and implementation of AV upgrades and installations for capital projects, including construction and renovations. Ensures that AV project deliverables are on time, within budget, and meets Institutional and quality assurance standards.
Oversees development and implementation of policies and procedures for AV services and loan programs to ensure students and faculty have effective AV tools for teaching and learning.
Manages the AV operational and AV capital budgets, ensuring expenditures meet established financial objectives. Manages operational reporting and related analysis, working closely with the Associate Director, Finance.
Works with vendors for equipment procurement, lifecycle management, renewals, repairs, and replacements of AV equipment while ensuring alignment with the Institute's strategies.
Researches and remains current with industry trends, AV technologies and practices. Continuously reviews internal AV technologies and practices to plan for future improvements, upgrades and integrations.
Manages reporting staff, including selection, coaching, mentoring, development, performance management and other people-management practices. Collaborates with Director on performance-related matters.

REQUIREMENTS
:
Bachelor's degree Media Technologies, Information Technology, or Educational Technology.
Extron Certifications for AV Configuration and Control or be willing to obtain.
Seven (7) years of related AV services experience, including 5 years in a leadership role leading AV operations, preferably in a post-secondary, multi-campus academic environment.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Proven project management skills, with ability to lead projects from concept and planning through to completion.
Expert knowledge of AV infrastructure, capital project delivery, and service management tools.
Excellent leadership skills and ability foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence.
Highly flexible and adaptable.
Ability to be available on call after hours and to occasionally respond and/or assess critical incidents as designated.
Advanced ability to work collaboratively across departments and foster relationships with faculty, students, administrators, and technical teams.
Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Experience working in a union environment.
