Manager, Advocacy & Campaigns

We\'re looking for a mission-driven Manager, Advocacy & Campaigns who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.

Your Impact at CNIB

  • Oversight and development of national advocacy campaigns: CNIB\xe2\x80\x99s commitment to Safe and Accessible Journeys and guide dogs, and supporting Advocacy Leads in regional implementation.
  • Provide strategic advice and oversight of regional campaigns along with the local Advocacy Lead.
  • Act as a spokesperson for guide dog advocacy initiatives with stakeholders, government, and media.
  • Build and manage relationships with elected officials, political staff, public servants, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure the success of CNIB\xe2\x80\x99s advocacy campaigns through assisting with initiatives that build a strong network of Community Engagement Volunteers from coast to coast.
  • Works with the CNIB Guide Dogs team to offer advocacy skills-building including, but not limited to, AdvoCamp.
  • Ensure that relevant advocacy campaigns and initiatives are being appropriately tracked by Advocacy Leads using CNIBs CRM software.
  • Effectively communicate CNIB\xe2\x80\x99s key messages to external audiences through presentations, briefing materials, and other communication materials.
Requirements

Who you are:

Education and Certifications
  • Degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience and Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience working in advocacy or public affairs.
  • 2-3 years of experience in campaign development or campaign management.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to guide dogs is an asset.
  • Extensive understanding and experience in building advocacy campaigns, including roles, responsibilities, and budgets.
  • Excellent relationship building skills; ability to build productive business and stakeholder relationships.
  • Professional attitude, self-starter and adaptable to a dynamic organization.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, and verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to plan and deliver clear communications to a dispersed audience.
  • Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision.
  • Passionate champion of diversity, accessibility, and inclusion issues.
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and database computer applications.
  • Well organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Proven success in leading and motivating teams of staff and volunteers.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
