To continue to centralize its payment activities and to support TC Transcontinental\'s ambitious growth plan, the TC Shared Services Center\'s Payables team is looking for an Accounts Payable and Payments Manager who will manage the team responsible for the creation of suppliers, the issuance of all types of payments and the call center to respond to our suppliers\' inquiries. This position is based at our shared services center located at 1500 Jules Poitras Ville Saint-Laurent and offers the possibility of working remotely in a hybrid formula. This person will report to the Accounts Payable Director and will directly supervise 10-20 accounts payable representatives. What you will do Ensure strict adherence to payment and vendor service policies and procedures in an efficient manner:
  • Establish the optimal payment strategy to maximize TC\'s working capital.
  • Review, adjust and communicate payment estimates with Treasury daily.
  • Develop a payment policy, in conjunction with the Treasury team, and communicate it to the stakeholders involved.
  • Ensure that vendor creations to systems are in accordance with service agreements and policies in place. Work with the procurement team to negotiate favorable payment terms.
  • Implement mechanisms and dashboards to detect potential late payments for discounted and strategic suppliers to maximize savings and secure supply to the plants. Engage with factories to resolve problematic invoices as needed to avoid late payments.
  • Ensure that supplier questions are answered in a timely manner with high quality service.
  • Ensure that process changes are always in accordance with internal controls (52-109) and ensure that up-to-date process documentation is maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with sales tax laws and other legal obligations related to the payables cycle (e.g., T4 & 1099 filing).
  • Intervene in problematic situations. Make the right diagnosis and ensure a quick resolution of the service interruption if necessary. Communicate appropriately to the plants.
  • Develop relevant performance indicator reports that help in decision making, team performance monitoring, project follow-up and the identification of innovation opportunities.
Management of the team
  • Act as a role model by conveying TC\'s values (Respect, Performance, Innovation, Teamwork).
  • Mobilize resources towards common objectives by communicating the department\'s orientations. Organize regular team meetings.
  • Establish individual work and development objectives for team members.
  • Ensure adequate training and availability of relevant tools for employees.
  • Ensure a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork is maintained within the department.
Project Management
  • Act as the Product Owner of the PeopleSoft payment module within the Agile team. Ensure that it is multi-currency and aligned with the latest industry and banking practices. Identify and prioritize future development items ("backlog").
Coordinate, lead, and document in an organized manner all special projects related to the department\'s activities. Act as an expert, allocate the necessary resources and build action plans.
Act as a change agent by comprehensively capturing the gaps between current and future processes to ensure a healthy transition. Ensure proper training of new users.
Oversee acceptance test scenarios (UAT), coordinate with other users to confirm migrations.
Participate in corporate projects, such as acquisitions. What we are looking for
  • University degree in accounting, finance, or related field and/or relevant work experience.
Experience in the manufacturing industry (an asset).
Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Power BI, and Agile methodology (Jira) an asset.
Excellent knowledge of Excel is essential.
Spoken and written languages: French and English is essential (Spanish an asset). What we have to offer
