The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the efficient and effective operation of the Maintenance Department to ensure maximum equipment uptime and reliability while maintaining a safe working environment. This role provides hands-on leadership, guidance, and training to Maintenance Technicians across all shifts while overseeing preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, and driving continuous improvement in maintenance processes and performance.



Duties and Responsibilities



1. Management

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Maintenance Technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. Assign and prioritize maintenance and repair work orders based on production requirements and critical equipment considerations. Monitor and evaluate team performance; provide coaching, training, and feedback as needed. Champion best practices in reliability, efficiency, and energy management to support operational excellence.

2. Preventative and Predictive Maintenance:



Plan, implement, and oversee the preventative maintenance schedules for all machinery and equipment. Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential issues before they result in downtime. Utilize condition-monitoring tools and techniques to optimize equipment reliability. Audit computer-aided production management (CAPMs) for each Technician to ensure completion and quality of work. Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and recurring issues, and recommend process improvements. Support safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations when required.

3. Troubleshooting and Repairs:



Provide technical expertise to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment issues. Maintain proficiency with equipment including cutting machines, furnaces, CNC, PVB, and IG equipment. Coordinate and execute emergency repairs to minimize production disruptions and restore operations efficiently.

4. Safety and Compliance:



Promote and enforce a strong safety culture within the Maintenance team. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with workplace safety regulations, company policies, and safety standards. Promptly address any hazards or unsafe conditions, ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken. Audit and maintain proper documentation for inspections and repairs in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

5. Collaboration and Reporting:



Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality Assurance departments to identify and resolve equipment issue and improve process reliability. Participate in the planning and execution of equipment installations and facility upgrades. Report key performance metrics (downtime, maintenance costs, CAPM compliance, etc.) and recommend data-driven improvements.

Required Qualifications



Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and develop a team of Maintenance Technicians. Demonstrated ability to prioritize routine maintenance while avoiding production delays. Degree or diploma in Electromechanical Engineering, Automation Technology, or a related field. Red Seal Ticket in either Millwright or Industrial Electrician (Dual Ticketed would be an asset). Minimum of seven years of maintenance experience within a manufacturing facility, plus a minimum of four years experience within a leadership or supervisory role. Confident to perform maintenance work independently or as part of a team. Proficient in reading blueprints, equipment schematics, and technical documentation. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with knowledge of motor, drives, gearboxes, belts, and bearings; prior experience rebuilding diaphragm and centrifugal pumps. Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical systems and diagnosing low-voltage electrical systems. Comfortable working in a production environment (temperature, humidity, noise, etc.). Ability to communicate in English effectively; both in writing and verbally. Ability to prioritize under pressure and tight deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Basic welding skills (MIG, TIG, ARC, and Gas Welding) are considered an asset. Forklift and rigging experience are considered an asset.
