CANDIDATE PROFILE:




Reporting to the Assistant Director of Operations and Maintenance, the successful candidate will have an outstanding ability to organize and prioritize District work, multi-task, and manage high-paced workload. The candidate will have strong employee management skills and strong interpersonal skills when working with all employee groups and the public. Additionally, they will have a strong track record of team building and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively within interdependent departments.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Schedule, manage, and supervise a multi-disciplinary team in a large, unionized environment. Implement best practices to enhance grounds maintenance efficiency and quality across the District . Manage all aspects of grounds maintenance of the District's facilities; ensuring grounds are clean, safe and well maintained. Promote and model a culture of health and safety. Develop ground maintenance schedules, assess project timelines, and monitor budgets, with regular communication updates to the Assistant Director. Coordinate and manage snow removal, maintenance, repairs, and alterations for District sites and equipment. Manage District projects from various funding sources related to ground maintenance. Implement policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations and legislation. Establish onboarding and training requirements including safety, grounds maintenance, and building security. Support resource management within the department and ensure projects are completed on budget and schedule. Develop, consult, and implement site and service upgrades approved by the Assistant Director. Consult with and provide regular communication to Operations, facility management, designers, and facility users. Perform other duties as assigned.








QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ATTRIBUTES:



Diploma in Landscape, Horticulture, Civil Technology, or Project Management, or post-secondary education in Engineering, Facility Management, Building Technology, Business Administration, or an equivalent discipline. Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a similar role, with at least 3 recent years in facilities or project management, including 2 years in a management/leadership role. Valid BC Driver's License with a good driving record. BC or interprovincial certification in a relevant trade with experience is considered an asset. Considerable knowledge of facility management principles, grounds best practice and site requirements, turf management, horticulture, sports fields, playground management, and preventative maintenance. Extensive experience in grounds and building maintenance (structural, electrical, mechanical). Familiarity with contract tendering, budget planning and estimates, and building security systems. Comprehensive knowledge of building codes, by-laws, and safety regulations. Proficiency in using Windows computers, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Project. Strong analytical and report writing skills with the ability to read and understand drawings and specifications. Exceptional skills in management, interpersonal communication, negotiation, and dispute resolution. Attend events and emergencies outside regular work hours, as required.






Salary Range:

$96,786 to $131,503 plus benefits, including a defined benefit pension plan. (Salary pending job rating)
