Job Description

Job Summary
The Assistant Maintenance Manager oversees all engineering and maintenance tasks, ensuring the upkeep of the building, grounds, mechanical equipment, guestrooms, and utility systems to a high standard. They are tasked with managing the maintenance budget, implementing preventative maintenance measures, and promoting energy conservation efforts.

Duties

• Supervises and assists maintenance personnel and contractors in the upkeep and repair of various facilities and equipment such as plumbing, hotel rooms, ice machines, pool, lighting, kitchen appliances, refrigeration, laundry facilities, emergency generators, and switch rooms.
• Maintain the hotel's pool by performing cleaning tasks, adjusting chemical levels, and cleaning filters. Complete necessary maintenance request forms and maintain detailed logs as mandated by both company policies and local health and safety regulations.
• Ensures all maintenance and repair tasks are carried out promptly, efficiently, and following established standards.
• Procures necessary materials and tools for equipment repair while adhering to budgetary constraints.
• Maintains an ongoing program for preventive maintenance throughout the hotel, including equipment and guest rooms.
• Takes responsibility for departmental and building safety.
• Respond to guest concerns quickly and efficiently.
• Adheres to company policies and effectively communicates them to team members.
• Ensures the hotel complies with all relevant federal, provincial, and local laws, including regulations related to health and safety, electrical safety authority, and human rights.
• Oversee completion of fire and safety inspections and address any discrepancies.
• Support the Maintenance Manager with budgeting, cost control, and other administrative duties.

Job Requirements

• A minimum of 1-year maintenance experience as a supervisor or 3 years' experience in a maintenance-related position.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• CPO Pool & Spa certification is required.
• Available to work nights, mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations
• Exposure to extreme temperatures. Must have physical dexterity and stamina.
