Job Description


KML Windows Inc., a division of Andersen Corporation, is currently seeking a multiskilled Maintenance Electrician. This is a full-time position responsible for ?hands on? maintenance support to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve upon all production equipment and facility systems. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works to assure productivity, quality and safety goals are met;
  • Works to achieve department and corporate objectives with minimal direction;
  • Is a subject matter expert for Strathroy Maintenance regarding issues of electrical nature;
  • Troubleshoots and repairs all mechanical functions, mechanical drive units, industrial hydraulic and pneumatic powers, plumbing architectures, AC and DC circuits, in addition to electrical sensors and switches, motor controls and servo controllers, safety circuits which include E-stops, light curtains, floor mats, safety relays and safety switches;
  • Evaluates equipment for any repairs, enhancements, or upgrades and completes work as needed; this includes some of the following: design, layout, sheet metal work, welding, machine shop work, wiring, PLC programming, carpentry and painting;
  • Uses continuous improvement methodologies;
  • Mentors, coaches and leads other Maintenance personnel including apprentices or assistants;
  • Monitors performance; spot checks apprentices or assistants work for accuracy and consistency; advises supervisor of performance issues;
  • Demonstrates technical expertise in maintenance functions;
  • Problem solves issues of high complexity in advanced electrical/mechanical systems;
  • Provides assistance as required including participation in the Continuous Improvement Process;
  • Promotes responsibility and accountability for a safe working environment;
  • Works with the engineering group to implement design changes of equipment, jigs, and fixturing for enhancement, upgrades or replacements as well as new plant layouts, moving of equipment and additions of equipment;
  • Works with the IT department for the implementation of production equipment;
  • Works with external contractors as needed, in both production and other related areas of the plant;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must possess a valid certificate of qualification as an Industrial Electrician (with mechanical experience/aptitude) and 5 years? experience in related fields. A secondary certificate/license in a mechanical discipline is desired (but not mandatory);
  • PC and PLC knowledge for upgrading, troubleshooting and machine functions via touch screen controls and machine operation software is required;
  • Advanced maintenance skills: carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, welding, machine piping, HVAC and dust collection;
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic problems;
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical, fluid power, building, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and prints;
  • Possesses excellent troubleshooting, reasoning, analytical problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), time management, organizational and prioritization skills;
  • Good computer skills: MS Office applications, data entry and retrieval, and spare parts control;
  • Knowledge of safety practices such as lock-out/tag-out and proper use of PPE;
  • Strong customer focus;
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, lift product and maneuver product (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Ability to be a licensed lift equipment operator.
