Machinist Apprentice



Weldco-Beales Manufacturing designs and manufactures specialized heavy equipment attachments for the construction, forestry, mining and resource industries throughout Canada, the USA and internationally. Weldco-Beales is currently recruiting a Machinist Apprentice for the Edmonton manufacturing team on our evening shift.

The Apprentice will work alongside Journeyman Machinists and learn on-the-job. This position will be a great opportunity for candidates currently working to complete their apprenticeship.

Weldco-Beales Mfg. supports apprentices by providing an Employee Insurance sponsorship program wherein the company provides additional earnings to EI while apprentices attend school. Once consistent, strong performance is demonstrated, the incumbent will be given the opportunity to enter into the company-sponsored apprenticeship program.

What you will do:

Assists machinists Reads and interprets work orders Follows directions given on work orders and by co-workers Transports raw materials and finished metal products manually, using hoists or other devices Sorts metal sheets and parts, scrap metal and other materials Loads and unloads metal parts from fixtures and moves parts using hand truck or dolly Grinds and deburrs sharp edges from metal parts using hand and power tools Operates Fork Lifts, jib and overhead cranes Performs other duties as required

Your qualifications:

Current Machinist Apprenticeship in progress Previous machine shop experience is an asset High school diploma Crane & Rigging experience or certification is an asset Milling knowledge and experience is an asset

You will bring to the position:

Knowledge of general safety practices General knowledge of basic tools and equipment Physically fit to lift items weighing up to 20 kg. Mechanically inclined Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination skills Measurement skills and measuring tools experience Math and computer skills Eye for detail and precision A knack for troubleshooting and problem solving

Monday - Thursday 4:00pm - 2:30am



Four 10 hour shifts including two 15 minute paid breaks and a 30 minute unpaid lunch break
